As you are aware by now, with the dawn of Football Season, we have introduced a few weekly College Football Awards.
We received an email from a thoughtful fan who is more NFL oriented, asking if we had plans to initiate any NFL weekly awards.
We didn't. At least prior to receiving the email.
But, we realized that it would be appropriate each week to recognize a player or players who excel but normally don't get headlines.
In that light, we have founded the NFL Weekly Roger Wehrli Award, in recognition of Wehrli's 2007 enshrinement into the Hall of Fame.
The award will, on a weekly basis, recognize the most outstanding White Cornerback in the NFL.
Wehrli is the only white CB in the Hall of Fame, and may very well be the only white CB to have played in the modern era.
We will hold off on announcing the winner until after tonight's Monday double header.
The competition thus far has been fierce.
And, the best part:
We want to hear from YOU, our valued reader.
This award will be strictly based on reader voting. Either leave a comment, or send us an email.
We'll tally the votes and then release the winner of the Roger Wehrli NFL White CB of the Week award some time tomorrow!
Thank you in advance for your participation.

Does almost white count?
Courtland Finnegan (starter for the Titans) isn't a white cornerback, but he looks ike one on TV...
i nominate Jason David on the Saints.
He was slow, had poor reaction time and got burned for 3 TDs.
He has to be a white guy!
That guy from Indy who scored a TD on the return...no clue what his name is.
Sir,
Jason Sehorn was a white CB and probably considered amongst top 10 at his position for one or two seasons.
"Jason Sehorn"
Sir, excellent point.
So, right now, he is the leader for this weeks award!
Damn Amphibian! I was totally ready to nominate Sehorn for a Lifetime Achievement Award. Well played. However, for my money, his rollover interception return for a TD against Philly in the playoffs remains the coolest thing I've ever seen ever.
Sir, this is a challenge to end all challenges, seeing as there are no current white cornerbacks in the NFL at all. However, digging deep into the underground railroad that is my brain I would like to nominate Eugene Cichowski for his adversity against Polock jokes. And probably Hitler.
I nominate Ronde Barber. I mean, I know his brother is white.
i'mma take Fred Smoot.
you KNOW he hitting all kinds of white women.
Um, there are lots that had good weeks.
Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Matt Schaub, Tony Romo, Eli Manning...
...oh, white cornerbacks. No, there are none.
(This joke is funnier if your blog were a podcast.)
Kyle Smith, Matt Giordano in the guy you're thinking of, but he's a S.
Even though he's not white and technically a safety, can I nominate Curry Burns?
I mean... his name forms a complete sentence. And that's an accomplishment in and of itself.
