Whitlock: Exposes Deadspin's Resident Hate-Monger

For those of you unfamiliar with the current social, cultural and economic shift effecting the mainstream media; allow us to enlighten you with a crash course.

Many in the mainstream media currently fear for their jobs, relevance and future because of the growing trend of the masses turning to Blogfrica for education, commentary, 'news' and diversion while at work.

Essentially, there is a concern that Blogfrica's ever widening influence may well be cutting into the way the mainstream media is consumed by the masses.

That gets you up to speed.

Certainly, for some members of the mainstream media, the prospect of loss is scary. It is a fear inducing endeavor to witness an unknown, 'un-understood' commodity begin to usurp the cache and currency once held in a death grip by the status quo. Particularly scary for the older, more entrenched members. The members that feel they came up the hard way, played by the rules (old rules, tho they may be) and now should be seen as the elder counsels of the industry.

Only...the industry is changing.

That background sets the stage for something that happened on HBO not long ago. Bob Costas hosted a panel made up of old-media journalist Buzz Bissinger (wrote Friday Night Lights), new-media blogger Will Leitch (writes deadspin) and token Negro presence Braylon Edwards (writes name on back of paychecks from the Cleveland Browns).

To capsulize: Bissinger loses mind, calls Leitch names and attacks Blogfrica with the fury only a senile old man could muster for some new-fangled contraption that scares and confuses him.

Nothing to see here, really. Nothing surprising.

Nothing surprising that is, until Jason Whitlock's commentary on the event.

"Some of us don't have the time, patience or inclination to help promote Leitch's book, which spends an inordinate amount of time telling prominent, successful, well-spoken African-Americans that they're not really black."

While we certainly won't take the time to listen to the link that Mr. Whitlock provided, we will take the time to point out that we believe there must be some sort of confusion.

As we have demonstrated previously on these very pages, Mr. Leitch is an avid racist. But we aren't sure that we can take it seriously that Leitch ever told Negroes that they aren't really Negroes.

In fact, if one references an interview we conducted with Mr. Leitch, it is obvious that this probably is not the case.

NOIS: Prior to leaving Mattoon, IL, had you ever seen a live Negro?

Leitch: I had heard rumors of a Negro family in Mattoon around the turn of the century, but that had never been confirmed. I thought I had seen one at an Illinois basketball game around 1983, but it turned out it was just Lou Henson.

So, certainly, it would be difficult to assume that Mr. Leitch is in any position to judge Negro-ness.

Whitlock goes on:

"Ninety minutes before Bissinger's eruption, we shared a car service from our hotel to the Equitable Center Theater where Bob Costas' live town hall meeting on the changing landscape of sports media would take place. It was my first in-person meeting with Bissinger ("Friday Night Lights"), and I found him bright, intense, straightforward and likable.
He told me on the ride over that he hated blogs. I told him that blogs weren't going anywhere and we might as well learn to live with them and enjoy them."

Excellent insight and advice from Mr. Whitlock. The insinuation, that Mr. Bissinger really didn't realize he didn't hate blogs. He didn't understand them. Hence his ill will.

Which brings us back to Mr. Whitlock's comments about Mr. Leitch's telling Negroes that they don't act Negro enough.

"And maybe Will Leitch can come along and tell us if we're all acting black enough."

It's a shame that a respected journalist like Buzz Bissinger simply doesn't 'get' blogging. The real shame is that it led to his appearing foolish on national TV, on a forum that could have led to necessary and insightful dialogue.

If journalists and bloggers have a difficult time understanding each others intent, and it leads to ill feeling (feelings that might too easily be called 'hate'), would it be a jump to say that individuals of different races might misinterpret intent of word and actions?

Again, let's refer to our interview with Mr. Leitch:

NOIS: Why do you hate Negroes?

Leitch: Hate is such a strong word. We fear what we do not understand, fine sirs. I eagerly await my re-education.

Clearly, Mr. Leitch is not the only one due for some refresher training.

Rejection: Coping With Institutional Bias

From most of our readers, if we type out the initials "KSK", we'd probably receive emails wondering if we made a typo and switched out a k for an s.

But, KSK is the acronym for a little known fringe of blogfrica, located at Kissing_Suzy_Kolber.

Recently, the "bloggers" on KSK held a contest to determine what lucky individual would receive a special invite to participate as the last member of their fantasy football league.

NOIS felt that it would be a worthwhile undertaking to claim the spot as our own. We also felt that we would be doing the "blog" a favor by giving it the unparallelled exposure it would get from the affiliation with NOIS. As part of the lineage of the original tribe of blogfrica, we feel a social responsibility to lend assistance and guidance to all inhabitants.

So, we submitted a reasonable, friendly and detailed application for admission into their league. An application highlighting the advantages our inclusion would provide. Submitted under the assumption that all entrants would be evaluated with an open mind and that presumed ideology (read: race) would not be an issue or used in determining acceptance into the all-white undertaking.

To our consternation, our application was rebuffed.

Our first instinct, rage. The pondered response was a concentrated assault of deadly vitriol aimed at assassinating the character of KSK. But the reality of the character of KSK assured the futility of such an energy draining proposition.

Further instinct led to the possibility of mustering our garrison of commenters and "busing" them to the hinterland of blogfrica occupied by KSK with the intention of orchestrating a peaceable, though staunch, virtual picketing of the site.

But, we realized, based on the admonition received in the rejection, that a better course of action was available.

"We couldn't bear the thought of spending a season being lectured to by these guys."

In light of that sentiment, our course of action is clear.

We're gonna start a fantasy league with these guys.

More Bias In Blogfrica (yea, that's right, Blogfrica!)

Firstly, indulge us.

This is a painstakingly slow week in sports. So please, we beg your attention as we turn ours toward some of the happenings in the blogosphere (which, we will be referring to as blogfrica in deference to the original man, the members of the Tribe of Shabazz, the original bloggers).

We detailed, in unbiased and completely indisputable fashion, the evil intentions being carefully formulated and cast upon blogfrica over at Deadspin. Now, we take a moment to reveal more bias and outright hatred directed at the members of Shabazz by another congregation of bloggers, united in racist sentiment and unrepentant in their anti-Negro sentiment.

We warn you, however: Let not the luxurious, soft skin upholstering the delicate (yet sturdy) orbs of temptation sway you from the underlying message. Or the hatred that lies beneath..... beneath the inviting cleavage, tightly wrapped in the pink-ish top, lifting the upper pectoral region skyward...culminating in a crescendo of orgasmic mammarian apex, highlighted with what appears to be a pearl necklace. It's hateful. And we have another pearl necklace to frame those creamy, suckling mounds.

Kissing_Suzy_Kolber provided a post detailing a story proliferated by the "ladies" at a site called Girls_Gone_Sports. We know nothing about the site, have never heard of it and doubt that women could provide anything ostensibly entertaining in the world of sports blogging. And, no, we aren't sexists. We are realists. Righteous realists.

To the chase.

Our indignation was initially sparked by this offering:

About a year ago we saw a flyer for the opening of a new Circuit City in our local mall, The Parks Mall, or as it's more appropriately referred to around here - The Darks Mall. Fittingly, Julius Jones was scheduled to make an appearance at the grand opening of the store to sign autographs and such. Intrigued, we grabbed our rape whistles, donned our kevlar and headed up to the Parks Mall to go meet Julius Jones.

The Darks mall? Fittingly Julius Jones was scheduled to be there? Rape whistles?

It gets more vicious in sentiment. And, isn't it a well known bon mot that you can't rape the willing?

So we marched up to Julius as his staff was putting away the autograph table, and batting our lashes we politely asked if he would sign my titty. Everyone around here says that Julius is a super nice guy so we were sure that he wouldn't turn us away, but he silently looked me up and down, turned to one of his security guys and said: "Tell Juggs and Red we be done."

The sentiment: That a Negro athlete could not possibly deny the sexually charged manipulative advances of a young white trollop thrusting the frothy white, full figured instruments of the devil into his face.

The reality: That young Brother Jones found the strength and righteousness necessary to quell the libertine intentions of the alabaster coquette. Reaffirming his commitment to the righteous values of the Tribe through his carefully chosen Ebonics dismissal, "we be done." The verbal denial of the white devil.

We stood there in horror and disbelief. What NFL star in his right mind would turn away a young, nubile white girl exposing her perky, milky white titty? It was the most degraded I had ever felt

The sinister intentions of the would be seductress failed to account for an important factor. The chloroxed siren anticipated reception from an NFL star in his "right" mind. However, she encountered an NFL star with a "righteous" mind.

Normally, we would not be in favor of the degradation of women. In this instance, however; degradation seems to be the most fitting result.

Brother Jones' strength in the face of the racistly invoked assault upon his moral values is a signal to loose white women everywhere. The beginning of a movement. A shout from on high. A clear message from Negro athletes that we humbly relay through blogfrica.

If you want the Brothers to autograph your tit-ays....show your damned nips!

Colin Cowherd: An Act of Self Defense

In one of the most courageous acts of defiance and self defense of our time, ESPN radio mainstay and flag bearer Colin Cowherd summoned the power of his listeners to defend himself and his employer from the overbearing intrusion of sports bloggers.

Cowherd, well known for his even handed approach to radio broadcasting and for his logical and rational broadcast "journalistic" conclusions, decided that he was no longer going to allow sports bloggers to impose their far reaching and all powerful will on himself or his ESPN parent.

As fighters for righteousness ourselves, we can only admire the type of fortitude that it took for Cowherd to stand up to the bloggers. Trying to carve out a niche for himself (and ESPN) in a world that is controlled and dictated by the corporate agenda of sports bloggers is a noble endeavor in and of itself, but to say "enough is enough" and take matters into ones own hands is righteousness personified.

Cowherd was tired of the fact that certain blogs perpetuated the concept that he "stole" from blogs on the internet. That the wonderfully humorous and bitingly funny commentary on his show did not always originate in his own brain housing group. We can only sympathize with the emotional hardships and stress such unfounded and hurtful accusations would cause a man of Cowherd's ethics and character.

Clearly, the blogs attempted to undermine his efforts to bring his fledgling network to the top. Not only were the blogs purposefully attempting to squash his personal and professional growth by trying to damage his reputation; but they were also trying to USE his growing fame and recognition to market themselves on his coat tails. It is bad enough that blogs like deadspin and the big lead have a strangle hold on the sports agenda. But now, they try to extinguish the soaring star of Cowherd AND market themselves in one fell swoop.

In an act of great personal risk, Cowherd apparently floated the idea of his loyal listeners mounting a revolution against thebiglead.com. Attacking the Death Star at its very heart. Sending a message that the little man at EPSN would no longer stand idly by and be a besmirched casualty at the hands of thebiglead's corporately inspired agenda. The suits at thebiglead's headquarters be damned!

And the self defense initiative was apparently launched. And with incredible results. At this posting, thebiglead.com was still down, dazed and confused, blinded by the fog of the war they had initiated by unfairly and maliciously supposing that a blog maintained some sort of intellectual ownership over the ideas that they posted on the free and public internet. That if a RADIO host or TV host or real sports columnist should come across these free and public ideas and re-convey them through a real and legitimate medium, there was some sort of ethical, civil or just plain decent responsibility to acknowledge it.

We would agree with Cowherd, the only appropriate response to the corporate sports bloggers stance and resultant acts of pointing out instances of occurrence was to take matters into his own hands. Shut them down.

And the best part in all this: As the sports blogs are finally silenced, we can all sit back and FINALLY hear the voice of ESPN.

It's about time.

As-Salaam-Alaikum, Colin Cowherd and your righteous fight against lilly-white corporate sports bloggers.
