Shock And Awe

There will be no post today.

We are still recovering from the shocking developments in the Michael Vick entrapment.

We will regroup.

And we will be stronger.

Nelson Mandela was forced to admit guilt and spend over twenty years in prison.

We shall overcome.

...How was this shocking?

Well, you can stop saying alleged when talking about Michael Vick anymore...he is GUILTY..

End of story!

Sir, I think it is sad to see you trying to compare Michael Vick and his actions to that of Nelson Mandela....

Sir, that is a slap in the face at Mandela and everything he stands for....Mandela is a good person....a kind person...to even mention Vick in the same breath as Mandela is sick!!!

Sir, you should be ashamed to even make that comparison!

Adam J said...

Sir, the comparison is striking and completely accurate. That Brother Michael is judged solely for the color of his skin is not nearly as surprising as it should be.

In a just world, Brother Michael will one day be named Commissioner of the NFL as Goodell is brought down amidst a long-overdue revolution.

May Brother Michael's mind be used to benefit the League much more than his feet ever could.

"Suz is a dumbass bitch,"

Sir, that is a tad harsh.

Suz just doesn't believe in the foundations this country was built upon.
Should Vick be found guilty, we would be the first to condemn him.

We will be standing by. Take all the time you need.

Sir, you make a wonderful point in your attempt to force us to condemn him.

And we would.

If he wasn't the victim of a coerced and empty confession made to save himself the countless years that would have resulted at the hands of the prosecutors tainted "witness" list. A list of convicts and hoodlums assembled, themselves threatened with long prison terms if they would not agree to profess the guilt of Mr. Vick.

This vicious cycle is symbolic of the institutionalized racism which has been the foundation of industry, education, economics and jurisprudence in the country.

Fear not Michael!

Those of us with keen minds and scant bias understand that your admission of guilt was akin to the hostage of terrorist reading a forced statement of dissention...with a knife to his throat.

We know morse code.

We read your blinks.

holy shit dude. now, i hate NOIS as much as the next guy. but you are a fucking stalker! what other names do you comment under? you just appeared here...and it's obvious you know the place.

not that there is anything wrong with hating nois. it's fun to do.

but, damn, i think you have issues.

Sir, the Constitution guarantees that a man be tried by a jury of his peers. Apparently, Vick was entitled to be judged by a jury of his hangers-on.

Perhaps this is 3/5 justice?

if only they could see what kind of message they are sending to black youths with this misplaced "justice".

Mr. Wave -
Your allegations are false and frankly out of order. I only stumbled on this blog last week. Generally, I've found the reading compelling.

ok, i take it back. you aren't a stalker.

you are a moron.

Nelson Mandela fought apartheid (sp).

Vick fought dogs.

I mean, how can you not see the comparison?

That was a good one, NOIS. I laughed for like thirty seconds. It's been a long day and I really needed that.

Overcome! Overcome! God free the millionaire!

freedom rings softly said...

"I mean, how can you not see the comparison?"

some might see the comparison more effectively demonstrated by referencing the fact that both black men were crushed under the weight of a repressive, tyranical and evil white system.

but, yeah, the fighting thing is good, too.

if you can't think of the real connect.

Alkee said...

Moral of the story: 1. Dogfighting is wrong, no matter if its commonplace in your culture. 2. Be very careful of the company you associate yourself with. I learned this in H.S. when I took a drug free sign from school, and others from my group took a P.O.W. flag from the veterens memorial and I received punishment for it all. It's everyman for themselves even when their in your crew.
Anyway, NOIS are saying that Vick is innocent, but figured he had no way around The Man conspiring against him so he took the plea deal even though he is innocent?

ZEKE said...

look folks.

vick would have lost his job to harrington half way thru the season.

and ended up hanging out with pacman and doing stupid coon shit and going to jail anyway.

at least this lets a decent white qb start the season off on the field instead of getting a hot potato half way thru.

GO JOEY!

Show 'em how it's done!

"Anyway, NOIS are saying that Vick is innocent, but figured he had no way around The Man conspiring against him so he took the plea deal even though he is innocent? "

Sir, what would you do?

They stack up a bunch young, deprived brothers against you. Threatening those men that if they don't relay the govt contrived story as gospel, that they themselves will do hard and long time.

And, then come at you and say, look, we know you ain't guilty. But we got nine homies who gonna swear you the Don of the operation. This is your chance. You can go to jail for a year and then try and come back. Or, you can fight for you innocense, which we have already manipulated against you, and never have a chance of coming back.

We wish Michael would plead not guilty.

But the house has stacked the chips against him in such a way that he has no hope.

As we said, his admission was the equivalent of an American POW reading a statement from the Hanoi Hilton.

Coerced.

Now, every young Negro in America knows that no matter how far up the economic, social and sports ladder he climbs...YT can push him back down.

We suppose that the young rich Negroes in sports have been getting too uppity the past few years and this was the YT reality check.

Take heed, broths.

Vick could have chosen to go before a jury. But he chose to take the plea. It if was all 100% false, then what would Vick have to lose by fighting? Nothing. He has the money and spent it on some fairly high-priced attorneys. He has the money to fire the attorneys he has and hire a new set that would tell him what he wanted to hear. Instead, he took the plea. He has the money to employ a decent spin machine and investigators to debunk the charges of those who flipped on him. But instead he chose to take the plea.

If you're altogether innocent, you don't take the plea. If you don't believe me, ask any one of the innocent guys who have served time, been exonerated and released from jail. They didn't take the plea and never admitted guilt-even though they were wrongfully arrested, tried, convicted, and jailed.

Personally, I wish he would have gone to trial. He would have had the opportunity to make good on all of the "he's been railroaded" rhetoric here at NOIS. Instead, he took the plea.

He's not ill-informed, or confused, or traumatized by the system, Roger Goddell, or PETA. He's not maligned by the press, the target of a conspiracy amongst friends. By his own admission, he's guilty.

You don't take the plea if you're innocent. Especially if you have the money to fight.

ENTRAPMENT - A person is 'entrapped' when he is induced or persuaded by law enforcement officers or their agents to commit a crime that he had no previous intent to commit; and the law as a matter of policy forbids conviction in such a case.

What exactly about this is entrapment?

J-Red said...

Sebastian--

Your response is precisely the type of bigotry I predicted would spew forth from white America when this plea went down.

"Typically, the sentiment is that an innocent man never pleads guilty, but that comes from the natural trust we have in the criminal justice system, and that natural trust is different for blacks than it is for whites. In many people's experience, an innocent man with a good attorney has a 99+% chance of being acquitted. In some parts of the country, that same level of confidence has to be below 80% for black defendants."

Read the whole post at my site.

Sirs,

Why has no one made the comparison between Vick and Ali? Both men, brilliant and unique and dominant in their time. Both noted for their speed and agility and anti-establishment charisma. Both struck down by a clearly racist federal judiciary system concerned more with keeping white sports white than with any ideal of justice. Both men will end up serving time in prison. And Vick will emerge, just like Ali, and return to the NFL and take down whoever the 'Foreman' at the time is.

The longer 'America' (read: whites) pretends this isn't about race, the sweeter the Vick 'Rumble in the Jungle' victory will be.

Preach on, Brothers.

If the murderous OJ Simpson proved anything it was that a famous black athlete can pay his way out of any accusations. Michael Vick is guilty..his mediocre career now over...it is truly sad but justice has been served. What Michael should have done was surround himself with friends like Barry Bonds has...you know the kind willing to keep their mouth shut and do the time for you. Who would have ever thought the day would come that you could refer to Marcus Vick as the good Vick brother. Lets hope Mike is as good at holding on to the soap as he is at drowning dogs.

Bigotry? Sweet! I thought you'd trot out old "Tom".

All of the things you speak of in your paragraph have great merit, and are true in a lot of cases.

But not in this one. There are real people facing real danger out there. Michael Vick is in a shitstorm of his own making.

Have you noticed that the vast majority of the men being exonerated and released from prison for false conviction are black? I have. It's a hard road, one much harder than either of us or anyone who reads this blog have had to endure. But these men have, and have maintained their innocence.

It's not faith in the system, it's faith in yourself and in, for purposes of this blog, Allah.

Michael Vick is none of these men. Vick isn't a even a fourth of the man Abner Louima is. Abner was innocent and got a stick shoved up his butt for saying so. Vick was guilty and took the plea.

It may be hard to admit, and I don't really expect you to. I imagine after I go to your blog, there will be a lot we agree upon. But not Michael Vick.

Pigger said...

Any notion of Vick being coerced or entrapped is ludicrous in light of his voluntary public statement:
"Mr. Vick has agreed to enter a plea of guilty to those charges and to accept full responsibility for his actions and the mistakes he has made. Michael wishes to apologize again to everyone who has been hurt by this matter."
Why would an innocent man feel compelled to accept responsibility and apologize for crimes he didn't commit, in a forum unrelated to his legal sentencing?
And, again, the comparison between Vick and Nelson Mandela is truly shameful.

Here is what Vick means to me.

I am a life long Falcons fan. I wondered how many Super Bowls we would win when we signed him. I figured possibly 5 out of his 10 years.

In 2006 the Falcons had to win the last two games to make the playoffs. One step at a time. First Carolina at home then Philly on the road. I was a the game on Christmas eve with my brother cheering for a win against Carolina. It was 10-3 Panthers late in the game. The Falcons needed a touchdown to tie and send this thing into overtime. It was 4th and 4 on Carolina's 35. The season is on the line and...

(1:23) (Shotgun) M.Vick pass incomplete short right to A.Crumpler (C.Draft).

With the teams playoff chances on the line Vick threw for 109 yards and rushed for 32. No touchdowns passing or running.

That about sums up Vick as a Quarterback. He couldn't hit Crumpler who he had open and running towards the sidelines. He cannot throw, he has no touch.

Now I know he has no heart either.

Once again, your logic is inarguable NOIS.May I suggest, sir, that you protest the racist injustice of Vick confessing his guilt by assembling a group of your minions at his home, breaking some windows, and stealing his TV and microwave.

Sir, we guess you didn't read the news reports a few weeks ago.

Some of his relatives beat us to it.

Sir, after failing to produce an adequate legal treatise to support your innane ramblings on racial conspiracies, Michael Vick gave you a leg to stand on by admitting what he did. I assume that you believe him?

Mr.Poindexter said...

How unfortunate, sir. You'll have to eat your hot pockets cold.
Perhaps, then, you and your brobots can pull Vick's landscaper from his vehicle and beat him senseless with a patio block. To balance the scales of justice. That, and he overfertilizes.

omnivore43 said...

Sir, I again repeat my central question to you: is there any set of circumstances under which you would believe Michael Vick to be guilty? If not, I suggest biting your tongue before accusing others of bias.

"Sir, after failing to produce an adequate legal treatise to support your innane ramblings on racial conspiracies, Michael Vick gave you a leg to stand on by admitting what he did. I assume that you believe him? "

Sir, we will be addressing this later, with a full post.

The people have demanded it.

Again, is a coerced "confession" and admission of responsibility.

We brilliantly used the analogy of a POW with a gun to his head reading a prepared statement condemning his own actions and his own countries.

Do you believe that is an admission of "guilt"?

Well, let's afford Mr. Vick the same understanding.

Because, that is what the federal govt. has done, in this case.

Dave said...

The only thing Mike Vick has in common with Nelson Mandela is Prison. Not wrongful imprisonment, just prison. For you to suggest anything else is ridiculous and an insult to Mr. Mandela. Mike Vick is a criminal whose actions only help to perpetuate the stereotype of young black thugs in America.

Sir, yes.

We believe he has mentioned that he will accept guilt.

For the conspiracy charge.

He planned to lend his friends money to finance some dog fights so that they in turn could make money.

We believe he admits to that.

Sir, Every fan has high hopes for his favorite team. Mr. Vick was supposed to revolutionize the QB position. The Falcon's would have won those five Super Bowls if Mr. Vick had either the intelligence or the arm of virtually any QB.
