More Andy Reid: Our Message Accepted By Mainstream Media

This was brought to our attention:

Another view on Andy Reid.

In fact, the highly respected sports blog The Nation of Islam has suggested that Roger Goodell suspend Andy Reid before anything worse happens:

“The time has come for Mr. Reid to either voluntarily, or through the invocation of the conduct policy, step away from the game and get his household in order. It’s time for Andy Reid to follow the example set by Michael Vick.”

The crux of the NOIS blog is that Reid’s children — even though they’re technically young men — are causing enough of a disturbance that Goodell needs to hold Reid accountable to the same personal responsibility policies he demands of NFL players. As a policy argument, it’s a total reach, but the message is still the same: Andy Reid needs to take some real time away from professional football and the Philadelphia Eagles for 2007. We’ll know soon enough.

Total reach?

The length of righteousness knows no limits.

ed.- WOW. It was brought to our attention that the excerpt we cut and pasted, which included "highly respected sports blog The Nation of Islam"...has been changed. Now the piece says "one sports blog The NOIS".....if you look at the comments there, you will see references to how the piece originally appeared. Apparently, Dave the Wave has some real pull.

Perhaps he means total "reach around".

Wait, how does the Nation of Islam Sportsblog get more mainstream media coverage than the Nation of Islam itself?

Sir, this is a proud moment for you and all of your disciples.

Dave the Wave said...

YES!!!

apparently due to MY comments, they changed the article....HAHAHAH

I BEAT NOIS!!!!

dave, the fact that you post here (and there) means NOIS wins...

You don't even know what game is being played.

Malcom Hex said...

man, that is pretty lame if the author did that because of some stupid comments...

^ Nah. I don't think it was the dave the wave comment. I will bet dollars to donuts the author/website got a bunch of emails from people who thought this blog is really affiliated with the Nation of Islam and they were offended that the author seemed to endorse it by calling it "highly respected."

If it was simply done because of DtW's wiseass comment, there would have been no reason to also change "Nation of Islam" to "NOIS."

Is this a case of simply giving in to whitey's sensitivity, or yet another example of latent mainstream media racism by association?

oh, forgot to point out, the comment above FtW's bird dropping lambasted the author about "Nation of Islam."

So some of you are trying to tell me PhillyMag is main-stream media? Maybe regional media, but even that is a stretch, the e-magazine is a publication about Philadelphia exclusively, hardly mainstream media, but keep trying to pass yourselves off as a legitimate publication!!

"So some of you are trying to tell me PhillyMag is main-stream media?"

Sir,in your pathetic and ignorant attempt to discredit this entity, you have confused terms.

We said MAIN STREAM media.

What YOU are talking about is NATIONAL media.

We never said that NOIS has been recognized by the NATIONAL media.

Although, some might suggest that our ability to secure interviews with columnists from the largest national media outlets in the country would suggest that we ARE recognized by the NATIONAL media.

But,we won't make such a claim.

We'll let others make it.

The term "MSM" or "mainstream media" has been widely used in the blogosphere in discussion of the mass media and media bias. Mass media is a term used to denote a section of the media specifically envisioned and designed to reach a very large audience such as the population of a nation state.

Can't wait for your response!!!

"Can't wait for your response!!! "

Sir, again, your poor reading comprehension has led you to intellectual defeat.

"MSM" or "mainstream media" has been widely used in the blogosphere in discussion of the mass media"

"discussion of"! It does not say synonym. It does not say interchangeable useage.

Now, having established that they are not interchangeable or synonymous...

"Mass media is a term used to denote a section of the media specifically envisioned and designed to reach a very large audience such as the population of a nation state"

The emboldened term is not main stream media. It is mass media. And, using the definition YOU sited, we have already established that they aren't interchangeable or synonymous terms - per that definition.

So, one is left with only one question:

What's your point?

Steven A's Cheese Doodles said...

this is simple...

mass media is mainstream media...but mainstream media is not necessarily mass media.

got it?

Malcom Hex said...

hahah! didn't gmb used to comment a while ago, and continually get served and then stop?

now he is back.

and getting served. LOL.

somethings never change.

My point is that I felt as if you and your audience were refering to a local magazine as "main stream media" was simply an overstated self-pat on the back. One should wait for accreditation to find you through your works instead of throwing your hand up in the air to proclaim that you have been found. Like you said, you have been given interviews, you are by all means on your way to finding that exposure, but standing on the desk and screaming "look at me" is not the way to go about it. It is as if your ego and sense of superiority are trying to garner attention when you should really let your writing speak for itself, as should your audience.

right on dude!

he should do like you, and run around the internet yelling "don't look at nois"...and, like you, have no writing of relevence to speak for himself.

follow gmb's example!!!

follow gmb's advice. it's the path to success.

look at him. his 'writing' has taken him all the way to the comment pages of nois!!!!
