Tim Tebow: System QB = Systemic Heisman

Tim Tebow.

Long applauded by the media as a front runner for the Heisman. Now, after the unfortunate (and clearly medically ill advised) decision by Oregon's Mike Bellotti to play Dennis Dixon, the probable winner.

Tim Tebow.

White America's desperate attempt to win back the QB position.

Over the past few years, as we have watched Negro QB's win the Heisman, the National Championship and be top draft picks, the white QB has taken a back seat as a bland and unappealing option behind center. Drop back. Read the defense. Throw to a probably Negro receiver. Or, simply hand off to a Negro running back. Not a whole lot of excitement or fan interest generated on behalf of the pale faced 5 step drop.

This season, we witnessed the brilliance of Andre Woodson, Dennis Dixon and Patrick White, clearly displaying the evolution of the position.

Dixon was in position to lead his Ducks to a BCS title birth. White now is in that position.

And that creates a difficult and upsetting scenario for the mainstream media and their need to pump up the precious white QB.

Unfortunately, early on in the season, the media put their chips on the wrong man.

Tebow was the big name on the returning National Champion. Clearly, he was a logical choice to trumpet as a front runner from day one. Certainly, in the media's infinite wisdom, it seemed logical that the Gators would be a tough team and playing at the top of the SEC would give them the chance to mention Tebow and Heisman in as many sentences and stories as possible. Can't really fault them for making Tebow the target of their affection.

The only problem? A guy that got little mention for the first half of the season is leading an out of nowhere team on a possible BCS title run. And he has been the better player. And he isn't a system QB.

That's right.

Chase Daniels of Missouri should be the man the media is touting. Should be, that is, if we choose to discount that Dennis Dixon hasn't already shown us enough to stake his claim as the best player in the land.

Tebow is a fine player. A good player.

However, let's call it like it is. If we are told by the media that Colt Brennan of Hawai'i and Graham Harrell of Texas Tech must be discounted as legitimate Heisman candidates because they are 'system' QB's; then we must add Tim Tebow to that list of system QB's.

Tebow is playing in a system developed by Urban Meyer that was able to fool the NFL into making Alex Smith a number one pick. A system that was able to turn Chris Leak, who received more than his share of negative reviews, into a national champion.

If we are going to attribute Brennan's numbers to June Jones' run and shoot and Harrell's numbers to Mike Leach's offensive playbook, then let's give the credit for Tebow's astounding touchdown numbers to Urban Meyer.

And, while Meyer's system may not produce the constant records that are generated by the others, he certainly seems to have taken the least talent at QB and done the most with it.

Meyer pulled the wool over our eyes with Smith. Then he conjured a National title with the much maligned Leak.

Now, possibly his piece de resistance:

Taking a modestly talented white QB and using his system to help him perform an admirable impression of a Negro QB.

Tim Tebow, the ultimate system QB.

why is it that black qb's who run option type offenses and actually lead their teams to titles and title games (ie, turner gill, jemelle holliway, tommie frazier, etc...) don't get heisman votes...but white boys that come along and run the option get trophies, crouch and maybe now tebow???

I suppose since the black qb's are going first in the draft, the white qb's need a little something to make them feel good.

The antithesis of the college commentator fawning and the draft results for white qb's must be maddening!

Valid arguments all, but it's like figure skating (unfortunately). Subjective and imprecise.
Kind of like the mythical national championship. Give me a playoff for the teams and mano y mano for the Heisman finalists in a UFC match. Just kidding, none want to fight Run DMC.
I'm a gator homer, but not stupid. The Alex Smith comparison hurts, maybe a bit too much. That said, I think, think, think Tebow will be better than Smith in the long run. Only time will tell.

"Chase Daniels of Missouri should be the man the media is touting."

I completely disagree with every one of your points. Tim Tebow is the second coming of Superman. And if you're trying to convince people that Chase is the best candidate at least you would have the sense to know his name. CHASE DANIEL...not DANIELS.

Jason said...

Are you retarded? Seriously. I want to know.

Tim Tebow is a raw talent. Urban Meyer's system is built around him, not the other way around. The kid benches 400 plus pounds, runs a 4.6 40, has a near perfect passer rating and maintains a 3.77 GPA at UF of all places (no easy feat).

He's 9-3 in the regular season his first year starting with a shell of last year's championship defense. He's already done what no other QB has ever done before in college football. Think about that for a second. He's a sophomore and has done more with one season than any other QB in the history of the sport...EVER!

He's not just good for a sophomore - he's good for anybody at any level.

These are not mediocre accomplishments. His performance has been downright tremendous, and the only way he doesn't win the Heisman is if they view him as being too young.

He is, however, the best all around player in college football this season, period. Which is why he deserves the trophy. Being Black or white matters not. Those other guys are good too, but not Tebow good. Not even close.

Sir, you sound to be a bit tipsy on Gator Aid.

Question for you...Was Meyer's system built around Leak last year? Or was Leak a product of the system?

Yea...thought so.

Nice try, though.

Sir, we unreservedly regret the typo.

And, we assume your poor grammar in not appropriately using a comma in your sentence is a typo as well. Therefore, we won't bother to say that since you made a typo, it invalidates your argument.

That would just be a silly rebuttal, wouldn't it?

nation_of_islam_sportsblog said...

" He's a sophomore and has done more with one season than any other QB in the history of the sport...EVER!"

Sir?

More than ever?

He's run for more yards than any QB ever?

Thrown for more yards than any QB ever?

Won more games?

Had more completion?

Had the highest completion percentage?

Thrown the fewest INTs?

Thrown the most TDs?

Hmmmm? Really?

And here, we thought all he'd done was score all his teams touchdowns cause they had no one else that could.

Imagine that.

We had NO idea he had had the best season EVER.

You don't live in Gainesville by any chance, do you?

pat white and dixon are themselves products of systems -- they are much more option-oriented than anything uf runs. beyond that, they hand the ball off 20 times a game to legitimate 1st round pick running backs, a luxury tebow doesnt have.
if woodson didnt disappear during games (see mississippi state, georgia, and south carolina), i agree, he'd be a definite heisman candidate. by the way, he's been successful as a pocket passer, something it appears you consider traditionally "white."
as far as attributing tebow's popularity to a media plot, i think you're way off base. he's consistently put up great numbers and put a team with a weak defense in the most competitive conference in the country on his back.

The fact of the matter is this. the one thing that black America has going for them is sports and entertainment, so when a white guy dominates them in sports. they get upset and scream racism like there is some grand conspiracey to keep you down. The best QBs in the NFL have always been white, are white, and will always be white. and now we have a white QB in college that runs better than all the black qbs combined and can do something the they cant. it's called throwing the ball. Dont be upset though. there will another black affirmative action QB come along in the next few years.

really, seemed like Oregon ran a very different offense when they had Harrington and other guys at QB. And what other great running/throwing QB has WVU produced under Rodriguez?

The facts are against you. Meyer's offense has produced the QB's at the college level. Bellotti and Rodriguez have adjusted their offenses to the QB's.

Tebow is pure SYSTEM!

Mack Power said...

"while you have a pic of a white girl on your screen? who you trying to fool."

Simon said...

The product of the system argument is a pretty shallow one. The only reason Tim Tebow became the first QB in the history of College football to both run and pass for 20+ tds is his system. That is the only reason? Talent had nothing to do with it.

So essentially what you're saying is that if Chase Daniel was the Gators Quarterback he too, with his not so impressive speed, would have 20+ rushing touchdowns. He too would be utilized as the goalline running back. For some reason I doubt this.

Maybe the system is built for a strong fast athletic quarterback who can additionally throw the ball and Tebow just happened to fit the criteria.

In essence you are criticizing Tebow for finding an offense that perfectly fit his talents and having an intelligent coach. Did you ever think that maybe just maybe they recruited Tebow because of the fit?

Or maybe it's that Rich Rodriguez, Gary Pinkel, and the rest are not very good offensive minds, run piss poor offensive schemes and Daniel, White and everybody else should get bonus points for shining under such poor coaching staffs.

DoubleC19 said...

Tebow is part system and part schedule.

Pat White can run, but his throwing isn't great.

Dixon was probably the most important to his team, see last 7 quarters, but got hurt and will be screwed.

The NFL now only cares about 1 color and its GREEN!!!

If you can't make decisions in less than a second and keep yourself out of jail, then you can not be an NFL QB. Defenses are too fast and too diciplined to allow for a spread QB to be successful unless he can throw well, accurate, on time to the right receiver. Does it matter that Kyle Boller can throw it through the uprights from his knees from the 50?

Unknown said...

i agree with that, and id also like to reaffirm that meyer didnt make tebow who he is.
tebow was an all-american qb coming out of hs recruited by everyone. to think that somehow meyer's scheme determines tebow's success is incorrect. it's a great match because it takes advantage of tebow's throwing and running.
what i meant when i said dixon and white are system qbs i didnt mean that they fit into a preexisting system, but that the offenses that wvu and oregon are running are tailored to them. imagine dixon or white trying to run a pass-first offense -- that notion is laughable. frankly, the threat of their running is what makes their passing possible. on the other hand, i think tebow would be successful at schools like usc or michigan which run more traditional, pocket-oriented offenses.
i dont mean to take anything away from dixon or white -- i love watching them and i look forward to hopefully seeing white in a bcs game, but in comparing their overall talent to tebow's, i find them lacking. it's true that tebow is especially successful because of the unique system meyer runs, but i think he'd be successful in any type of offense, while white and dixon would be totally ineffective as pure pocket passers

Kunle Demuren said...

You forget, that Tebow AND Leak were playing substantial time last year, and if we are going to talk about 1st round busts at QB, there are plenty of those to go around, black or white. I would also disagree that Tim Tebow is "moderately talented". I agree that if Dixon didn't get injured, he deserves the Heisman, but Tebow has played some of the toughest D's in the country, and still put up historic stats. Chase Daniel plays in a conference with such excellent defenses as Nebraska and K-State. Tebow had to play against LSU, UT and UGA, all of whom have very good defenses. Which brings me to another problem with your argument. What else changed that allowed UF to win a national championship? Tim Tebow was there.
In conclusion...
Racism is still in sports (I won't dispute that), but Tim Tebow deserves the Heisman at least over Chase Daniel (maybe not McFadden).

Jason said...

"Question for you...Was Meyer's system built around Leak last year? Or was Leak a product of the system?"

Actually, Meyer was very forthcoming with the fact that he was unable to run his style of offense 100% because Leak was a pocket passer and not a running QB. To me, that sounds like the system adjusting to the QB, not vice versa. That's not a try, that's a fact. "Try" getting your head out of your ass before responding next time.

"He's a sophomore and has done more with one season than any other QB in the history of the sport...EVER!"

I apologize if this was taken out of context. I did not mean to imply that he has broken every record ever set in every category, though I can see how it sounded that way. I was simply drawing attention to the fact that he has achieved something in his first year starting that no other QB has achieved in ANY year starting. He also broke the single season rushing TD record in the SEC. What records have Dixon and White broken this season?

That aside, his other numbers are nothing to scoff at. He has either passed for or scored on foot 306 points so far this season. That's a contribution of 25.5 points per game from just one person. The kid is a dynamo and you're foolish to think he's just another "white boy" prop for the college football media to salivate over.

And one more thing: do you have any experience with the college of Family, Youth and Community Services at the University of Florida? I didn't think so. It happens to be the same college where you learn to treat the mentally insane, help abused or neglected children find safe homes and counsel troubled youth and drug addicts, just to name a few. No, it's not Nuerology, but it's definitly not basket weaving either. It also happens to be a subject he has been involved with for years, weather it be visiting and speaking at his parent's missions or giving motivational speeches to prisoners, he digs helping people. What do Dixon and White do?

1. Chris Leak won three state championships and lost 1 game in high school. He was the #26 prospect in the nation coming out of hs and set a SEC record as freshmen starter, going 6-3 including beating the national champions LSU. It's not like he was just some scrub when Urban Meyer came in.
2. Alex Smith was drafted #1 more on his combine workouts then his performance at Utah anyways. Urban Meyer didn't fool anybody into thinking he was 6-4, ran a 4.7, and had a cannon for an arm, they saw it for themselves in person.
3. Tebow shouldn't win the heisman because of his TD totals, he should win it because he is the best QB/RB in college right now. He carries his team on his back, leading them to the #10 overall ranking in the country and a 9-3 record in the toughest conference in college. He is more important to his team then any other player in college right now.

Tebow, Mcfadden, Dixson, and White are all deserving, but which one is the most valuable to his team, and which one is the most dominant player. This whole thread is an absolute joke. If dixon was still playing, he would win the heisman- no doubt. But he isn't. That's like saying that A-Rod should win the MVP of MLB if he only played 2/3 of the season. It's irrational. Furthermore, like it has already been pointed out, Dixon and White are just as much system QB's as Tebow, Harrell, and Brennan. You have to find an offense that fits your skills. Putting Ichiro at cleanup would be a dumbass move. All of these QB's have found systems that fit their abilities. Tebow has put up some incredible numbers and since he has played all the games (albeit a few injured) he has more of a claim that Dixon this year. It's unfortunate, but it is the truth. This racism BS is rediculous. The Heisman knows no color (or colour). Look at the past few years and you can see it. Two teammates- both two of the best players in the country- COMPLETELY different. Why can't we all just accept that the best player could be EITHER color? The best player isn't gonna be the same race ever year.

My point on Tebow being the most valuable has to do with the fact that if he wasn't on the team, the gators would probably be near the bottom of the SEC instead of being ranked the #10 team in the country. Their whole entire offense revolves around him. I think more then any other player, his loss would be felt the most, although the loss of Dixon has certainly hurt Oregon.

You're right... Dixon has only missed 2 games... as of yet. But by the end of the season it will be 4 games (though only 3 will count for the Heisman vote). So, he will have missed at least 1/4 of the season regardless of how you view it. In my mind (and most of the voters as well), the most important part for a heisman candidate. Unfortunate, but it is the truth. James describes you to a T. Pathetic. You do a disservice to yourself by carrying around a bunch of misplaced anger that no one but yourself is responsible for. It isn't 'whitey' but rather you that is responsible for your problems. Good luck with that.

The -ou- spelling is the English, or Anglo way of spelling it. As opposed to the -o- spelling. Which is the Americanized version.

As for this country being free...?

If that were true, Dennis Dixon would not be being denied his civil rights in this Heisman 'race'.

The reality is that EVERY QB is a system QB. Is Meyer even going to recruit someone who is 5'11" and runs the forty in 5.1 seconds?

Do you think there is a reason Tebow decided to NOT go play under the center @ Alabama? He would struggle to put up 200 yards passing a game in that offense.

The difference is strength of schedule. Hawaii is constantly in the borrom of the country. Texas Tech is consistently around the 60s, Florida is in the top 10 on a yearly basis.

Go ask the head ball coach @ WVU if he plays on recruiting the next Peyton Manning mold, i'm sure he will laugh at your stupidity.

Yet, lets not give Tebow the Heisman because he is a system QB but consider giving it to Brennan, or Pat White?

You should've argued someone besides Tebow though, I personally do not have much love for UF but I think that guy's talent speaks volumes. Chris Leak? One of the most overrated HS players ever, but hands down it's that Clausen kid at ND now.

Dixon is a very good player but you can't argue that just because Oregon fell flat on their faces after he gets hurt is the only reason they tanked. 1. The backup QB (Leaf) was mediocre at best and then he goes down. 2. The backups after that didn't do squat. 3. And I think a lot of the Quack players got their hearts broke losing to Zona and just packed it in.

I like Dixon and think he's exciting and effective QB but he isn't in Tebow's class IMO. He's not in McFadden's class as far as athletes are concerned, not many guys are but I still say LOUD and WIDE because he's from my HS, Felix Jones ain't getting no love - VERY UNDERRATED.

"The best player has been the same race for many years. Many years."

i will not argue the prevalence of african american athletes in sports and the higher skill level that many of them have. however, it is not as though every african american athlete is better than every athlete of every other race. it is widely agreed upon that the hardest position in sports is the quarterback and anyone could reasonably argue that peyton manning and tom brady are the best at the position. it is also widely accepted that the hardest single thing to do in sports is hit a baseball and one could also argue that alex rodriguez is the best at that. clearly, none of them are african american. i'm sure you will take this as a racist dig at african american athletes, but i assure you it is not.

much like you, i prefer to watch fast football players with the ability to cut on a dime and leap extraordinarily well. it just so happens that right now more african americans can do that. please do not try to say that no athlete of another race is capable of those same things. it simply is not true. there are elite athletes of all races, accept it.

as for the heisman this year, mcfadden should win it. he is the most outstanding player in the country, far more outstanding than tebow, white, or dixon. if we are strictly speaking about the quarterback position, then i would go with tebow. i do not discredit white, as he is an explosive runner who has built up a more than capable passing attack. dixon, however, cannot be eligible. if he misses 3 out of 12 games that is missing 25% of his games. equivalences in other sports would be half of august and all of september in baseball and roughly 20 games in basketball and hockey. a player that misses so much cannot win the MVP or MOP award.

there are many other things wrong with your various posts, such as your utter disregard for the history of slavery in north american. who is it that sold africans into slavery? right, other africans. white america should be held responsible for what it has done, but awarding the heisman trophy to an outstanding athlete like tebow is in no way setting us back to the jim crow era. tebow has the best overall numbers.

there is no hope of changing your mind, but i hope you realize that it is okay for someone to think tebow is a worthy heisman trophy cadidate without that person being a racist.

First off, I borderline loathe Florida, but you do make some interesting points. However, I think you are discounting the fact that Tebow brought with him a 5 star recruiting rating and holds virtually every QB record in the State of Florida. The other QBs you mention don't. Also, the numbers he has put up are so far out of this atmosphere, that skin color can hardly be used as the argument.

I would humbly submit to your audience that if the black QB spent as much time learning the game as they do running around the field, they would be taken more seriously and certainly would have more success in the NFL. But if you are a High School Coach are you going to take the time to teach a QB the nuances of the game even at that level when all you have to do is tell him the pull it down and run with it ? Probably not. The Coach wants to win and win now. That hurts the black QB in the long run.

As for your pale faced 5 step drop comments, I think the country is very excited to watch Peyton Manning and Tom Brady play football.

j-rulz said...

I'm hispanic, so I could care less about whether it be a black or white player to win the Heisman. With that said, Tim Tebow should win the Heisman. His numbers do not lie. Especially because they come against the best, by far, conference in America. Dennis Dixon plays in the puss-ten and Daniel plays in the small 12, they should not even be looked at. It's either Tebow or Mcfadden, end of story. And you should all listen to me since I'm brown and brown = the best of whites and blacks put together!

Unknown said...

Well written, but wholistically, I tend to disagree...not because I'm a Gator fan, but a college football fan.

There is vailidity in how America hails white players that display athleticism ususally reserved for black players (ie option type offenses, playing above the rim in hoops, etc.). I just don't believe this to be the case.

The numbers, however speak for themselves in the case of Tebow. In what most say is the best conference, he's dominated. The Chris Leak comparison is not a good one in my opinion. Leak is the antithesis of the stereotypical black qb in that he is a pure drop back passer that does not run well. Meyer tailored his offense for Leak...but Tebow was recruited as a better fit for his offense. Tebow set state records in passing yardage and td's in high school, but was an effective runner as well.

You can believe that Tebow should not win the heisman, for there are other players who are well-deserving. I would not be upset if Daniel, White, or McFadden got it...but Tebow has performed very well and is deserving as well. To say that Tebow is a system qb is not valid...and more importantly yet to be proven on the next level.

Tebow is a bad boy yall...yeah, he may get some extra hype...but don't get it twisted, WATCH his games and decide. The hype is warranted, just ask the SEC.

Now, perhaps it IS true that Tim Tebow was created by a mad scientist for the purposes of tormenting defensive coordinators, but those coordinators are both "Negros" and "White Devils", so he should be allowed to win the Heisman, he being a equal opportunity tormentor.

Racism requires power.

ie, White power.

While Chase Daniel has shown to be a good QB, one of the most impressive players that everyone seems to have forgotten about is Darrin McFadden at Arkansas. Why is no one still talking about him?

I'll say this for Dennis Dixon; he'd better get invited to the Heisman ceremony. Have you seen how badly his team has been performing since he was injured? They're a mess without him. If that's not a true sign of how valuable he is as a player and a leader, I don't know what is.

"how could we take it any other way?"

easily, actually. all i did was state that the best player is not always black. if you believe that black players are always the best then you sir have the racial superiority complex and are in fact lowering yourself to the moral standard of white bigots.

also, i whole heartedly believe randy moss is the most athletic football player on earth right now. however, that wes welker is pretty fun to watch too, wouldn't you agree? i'm also willing to bet he is a superior athlete to you, me, or anyone else on this blog.

finally, just so you don't make the mistake somewhere meaningful, deflectory is not a word in the english language.

I can see why I get no argument about "delusional."

too true. fortunately you seem to have the luxury of "putting out idiot magnet(s)" to level the playing field with an apparently extreme effect.

Where's my Heisman?

It's in the mail along with your MENSA membership card...jackass.
Tebow has put up numbers that NOBODY has ever put up before. He is clearly the Heisman winner. And maybe you have hit on something with this notion of a system quarterback...like how every NFL team has a system that they need to qb to run. That is why pure athleticism has not lead to success at the QB position, you need brains too. Who are the best QBs in the NFL and where were they drafted..betcha they are white and were drafted alot lower than you would think (with the exception of peyton manning). Look no further than mike vick for a great example of a guy who had no clue how to run an NFL system.

Perhaps from the perspective of a running QB...or the combination of running and passing when numbers of touchdowns, again, primarily from running the football, are factored into the equation.

That statement is certainly not true when ranking a QB strictly as a passer.

absolutely nobody has ever matched the athleticism and skill of Tebow at this level. His pure athleticism plus his ability to run the passing offense makes him the hands down winner.

Censored,

First, I think Tebow deserves the Heisman this year. He's flat out the best player. Period.

I made the distinction between running and passing QBs because there have been guys that have racked up far more impressive passing numbers than Tebow (here's one: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=145275)

As for 'system QBs,' every QB comes from one. You read the same complaints about 'system wideouts.' Ipso facto, Wes Welker went undrafted out of Texas Tech because he put up big numbers because of his 'system QB.'

Ask Tom Brady what he thinks of Wes Welker these days.

suh, the post isn't against tebow.
it's against discounting brennan or harrell (or anyone for being a system qb).
jesus. the point of the post is that there is no such thing as a system qb.
your density could protect you from radiation."

he clearly states that tebow is merely being pumped up by "the white media", that he is not the right choice for the heisman, that urban meyer's system is responsible for tebow's success as he is merely a "modestly talented qb" making "an admirable impression of a Negro QB." those are numerous comments AGAINST Tim Tebow. did you even read what he posted?

WindRider95 said...

While I've found the comments on this thread to be a fascinating afternoon diversion, I think only one event can derail the Tebow Express during its journey to Heisman land. And that event would be if Chase Daniel were to surgically dissect OU to the tune of 400+ yards and 5 TDs while delivering the win. And even that might not be enough.

lost said...

Suh: bruh. I suppose it's possible that the author of the post sincerely considers Tim Tebow to be 'modestly talented'.

You should consider the ramifications if he does not.

Maybe you should marinate on that for a few minutes before posting your next reply.

Sir, you are highly confused.

How is pointing out that if Colt Brennan and Graham Harrell should lose votes for the Heisman, despite their amazing numbers, because they are considered 'system' QB's...then Tim Tebow should also?

How is that racist?

If you took something else away from the post....well then we'd suggest that it is YOU who is perpetuating a racist point of view.

Sir, are you saying there are no racial tones in your post? The Brennan and Daniel (NOT DANIELS)argument was just a part of your piece. Is making a point to say that Urban Meyer has molded Tebow into a Negro QB impressionist not bringing race into it? Is talking about the media's need to "pump up the precious white QB" not bringing race into the discussion? If not, what is the purpose? I have taken away from the post exact what is it in it. You, sir, I feel are confused.

OK I've taken the time to read through these moronic comments and thought up a few points to make, and I'm going to try to stay as nice as possible (though it may be difficult).

First of all, any quarterback worth his salt is a system quarterback. That's what coaches do, they recruit quarterbacks to fit their system and style of offense, or they tailor the offense to fit the quarterback they have (Chris Leak is a prime example). Florida did not win the title last year because of Chris Leak, although he certainly had a large hand in it. Florida won the MNC because of a stifling defense and an offense that produced when it needed to. That argument is over.

Second of all, I'm really sick of race being an issue with blacks. If anyone white is accomplishing anything extraordinary, then obviously it's a white conspiracy. Tim Tebow isn't being hyped for the Heisman because he's white. Tim Tebow is being hyped for the Heisman because he is undoubtedly one of the top college football players in the country. 3,000 yards passing with 29 TD's is a very good year for a college quarterback. Almost 900 yards rushing with 22 TD's is a very very good year for a running back. He's done both. In arguably the best conference in the country. He's also had a bum shoulder half the season and had a broken hand the entire 2nd half of the FSU game, and still produced record numbers. They are 9-3 because of a young, inexperienced defense. Tebow has shown up and played his top game week in and week out. That's something neither McFadden nor Daniel can say. White or black, he has had the best season in my opinion, but take nothing way from McFadden, Daniel, White, Dixon, Brennan, or anyone else in the Heisman debate. That argument is over.

Third of all, don't bring Barry Bonds and Michael Vick into this argument. Please don't. There is a mountain of evidence against both athletes, and they are being charged (and convicted) of crimes they obviously committed. Whether they are white or black, they would have been put in prison for lying to Congress or running a dog fighting business (seriously, how could you defend someone for killing dogs????). And if you want to bring in race to famous athletes being charged of crimes, remember the O.J. case from 13 years ago? Kobe Bryant from a few years ago? Black athletes are let go for crimes, as well.

I honestly don't know why you had to bring in the whole black/white thing into the Heisman argument. Whites and blacks have won it fairly equally over the last 15 years or so. Why don't you just keep the argument football related, it makes for a lot less tension in the discussion.

Sorry this is long, I had a lot to say. Take care.

nation_of_islam_sportsblog said...

"Sorry this is long, I had a lot to say."

Sir, actually, not really.

You just used a lot of words.

That's different.

ncwbishops89 said...

Sir, what I made was a fact-based argument, which is something you seem completely incapable of doing yourself. Or maybe I used too many "words" and your limited brain capacity couldn't read them that well?

nation_of_islam_sportsblog said...

"Sir, what I made was a fact-based argument, which is something you seem completely incapable of doing yourself. "

Sir, if fact based is giving your opinion, and then saying 'end of argument'....then, indeed, a factual representation it was!

ie, 'Florida did not win the title last year because of Chris Leak'

That is your opinion. Others would say that last year, no other QB on UF's roster could have led them to the title. Tebow wasn't ready. Therefore, they DID win because of Leak.

Now, THAT is a factual argument.

End of argument.

Malcom Hex said...

"what I made was a fact-based argument"

Really?

"Tim Tebow isn't being hyped for the Heisman because he's white."

Sounds like purely your point of view to me.

Reality check, just because YOU believe something, doesn't make it fact.

You spouted off stats and then interpreted them using your slanted, Pro-Tebow Pro-white point of view.

That isn't a fact based argument. That is actually the opposite.
