As Barry Bonds now deals with the ramifications of his federal indictment and faces the possibility of time behind bars, his 'friend' and personal trainer has been set free.
Greg Anderson was imprisoned for his role in this Barry Bonds struggle. The simple rundown is that he supposedly wouldn't cooperate with investigators and as punishment for zipping his lips, he was placed in federal custody.
It's understandable that the courts would lock Anderson up. Hoping to bring Bonds down, any allegations that they could attribute to Anderson would be damning. They would be perceived as fact. Strong arming him into saying Bonds was a steroid junkie certainly would be in character with common methods of coerced testimony.
But, now, after over a year in jail for Anderson, the indictment is handed down. An indictment that holds no new information or testimony from Anderson. Yet Anderson is freed.
Obviously, the government is confident in their case, or they wouldn't indict.
The government believes that Bonds perjured himself in Grand Jury testimony by denying his knowing and willful use of steroids. And is intent on locking him up.
The only problem:
They just freed the man who's access to steroids provided the link which tarnished the image of the Home Run King of baseball. Thereby, severely hurting the game and providing the youth of America with the perception of Bonds being a less than upstanding role model. All the questions involving perjury and tax evasion can be attributed to events that played out due to Anderson's association with Bonds.
When a man is crossing the street and is intentionally run over by a truck, do we indict the pedestrian and set the driver free? Well, that is what the government is doing before our very eyes.
The government already had the man responsible for any of the alleged improprieties that Mr. Bonds may or may not have issued a denial to unknowingly or unintentionally purposefully being subjected.
Unfortunately for Bonds, he is being caught in the crossfire of the governments war on steroids.
Which makes a bigger splash and career booster for those involved:
A blurb in the US Today about someone named Greg Anderson being locked up for steroid distribution and injecting an unaware Barry Bonds with steroids.
Or,
Constant media headlines in print, tv, radio and the internet trumpeting the downfall of Barry Bonds for possibly or improbably accepting the bad judgment of some else's advice about what supplements to take and then being confused about what he had actually taken when faced with the scrutiny and high pressure of a hostile and inquisitionist environment in a Grand Jury assembled with the visible intention of destroying his career, fortune and legacy.
Which?
Exactly.
It's time for the legal system to right their wrongs.
And lock up Greg Anderson.

here comes the spin. Bonds must now pay for his actions. I know your company line is that any time a negro athlete does something wrong it is not his fault but unfortunately for you civilized society doesnt agree. This will play out in court and it will be proven that bonds lied because lets be honest here everyone knows he did. A professional athlete is given something called the CLEAR (as in showing up clear in drug tests) and doesnt question anything..sure. The bonds legacy....cheater, druggie, tax evader and soon to be convict...Now MLB must do the only fair thing..erase all of bonds stats and reinstate hank aaron as the true HR champion.
NOIS your whining remains the equivalent of a tree falling in the forest...nobody will listen to you because you are a jackass.
"CLEAR (as in showing up clear in drug tests)"
you really are retarded aren't you?
the other stuff was called the Cream....why, because it left a cum stain on the drug tests???
NO...because it was a CREAM...
the clear was called the clear because it was a clear, liquid substance administered sublingually...
jesus, man...every thing you say is bullshit!!
it's becoming obvious that you are just a 'character' who says stupid stuff just for effect...
"it's becoming obvious that you are just a 'character' who says stupid stuff just for effect..."
agreed. no one could consistantly mangle things and give out false information like he does unless it was on purpose...
i vote we stop feeding into his 'character' act...

LOL..NOIS must be getting a laugh out of this...
"The government already had the man responsible for any of the alleged improprieties that Mr. Bonds may or may not have issued a denial to unknowingly or unintentionally purposefully being subjected."
that gave me a brain cramp...

man are you gullable...there are other forms of steroids that are liquid and clear...this had the name because it promised to come up clean on drug tests...but stand by your hero to the end...the asterisk is not needed anymore..his phony records will be wiped completely from the books.
"there are other forms of steroids that are liquid and clear"
that are administered sublingually?
i've taken winstrol, deca, test, dbol and anavar....NONE are liquid and clear. and i am only bringing this up to demonstrate that you will continue to argue with me even tho you have never even seen real steroids in your life....
deca and test are OIL based and golden golden and thick...winstrol is milky white.
and dbol and anavar are PILLS...
the only gullible one is YOU...
stop talking about steroids...YOU HAVE ZERO REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE WITH THEM...
"stop talking about steroids...YOU HAVE ZERO REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE WITH THEM..."
that's never stopped censored before...hell, he doesn't even bother to have any knowledge of facts, what does actual life experience matter to him?
"man are you gullable...there are other forms of steroids that are liquid and clear...this had the name because it promised to come up clean on drug tests"
then why didn't the cream, which promised the same not get a catchy double entendre name???
cause the shit was called 'clear' because it was clear....and the cream was a cream...email Patrick Arnold and ask him.
"Now MLB must do the only fair thing..erase all of bonds stats and reinstate hank aaron as the true HR champion."
Censored,
you do know Hank is black, right? You mean Mark McGwire.
It's a witch hunt and an obvious one. And Bonds is an asshole, and an equally obvious one.
It doesn't matter who wins; the fans lose.
"the fans lose."
clearly, you are a fan.
cause.....you're a loser!
How come no props for Greg Anderson not turning rat for the government? Maybe because he's white? Too bad you can't say the same for Mike Vick and Pacman Jones. Not the white part, the rat part.
This Indictment is GARBAGE. The defense got it right, It's this republican's government throwing up distractions - and accusing the black rich athlete of all the ills of the land.
Shit I did steroids.
"How come no props for Greg Anderson not turning rat for the government? Maybe because he's white? "
Sir, no.
Because Anderson was the source of all of Bonds problems.
That's why no props.
Anderson singlehandedly has destroyed the greatest record in sports.
Singlehandedly.
The greatest record in sports isn't really material to the slowest maturing federal perjury indictment since the Clinton impeachment.
This investigation started when Bonds pissed off over-the-hill IRS agent Novitsky at a gym. Novitsky swore to bring him down, so the vendetta was framed as an investigation of BALCO -- hence the obstruction charge: By responding as he did at the Grand Jury, Bonds supposedly impeded the feds from getting the goods on BALCO.
So, if you leave out the hurt feelings of a taxman, in general this exercise maps to the standard federal method and results during its grinding War on Drugs: The supplier kingpins go free or serve light sentences. Persons tangential or low-ranking, however, are heavily penalized: Anderson (either a mule or a pusher, as you please) is jailed throughout the Grand Jury's term; Troy Ellerman (a defense attorney who ruptured Grand Jury confidentiality to the government's great benefit) is sentenced to more than two years. And Bonds, a user, is threatened with 30years, and if convicted may be sentenced to at least 30 months.
This is exactly the same sentencing structure in play in federal drug courts throughout the land. Kingpins, nothing or little. Middle guys, little or flip for nothing. Street pushers, mules, advocates, and users: Locked up for years.
As it happens, the racial hierarchy NOIS so frequently alludes to appears to exist both in the general outcome of the War on Drugs and in the Bonds perjury case. That is, the longer the sentence, the lower the rank in the illegal enterprise and the darker the skin. Obviously that's just a weird coincidence, but it's weird enough to point out.
Greg Anderson didn't make Barry Bonds take steroids. He's man enough to take the blame for a cheater and a liar without ratting him out. A white guy taking all the heat so a brother can stay out of the can and that's the thanks he gets from you? For shame.
"Greg Anderson didn't make Barry Bonds take steroids."
Sir, you're right....he told him they were something else...
I say they let Anderson go because he finally rolled over on Bondds.
I'm very glad that the United States government has seen fit to attack the user of a steroid, a single user, rather than continue to move against the source of said problems.
Just like the drug war in all other facets. Catch the man with a dime and give him a year in jail, move slowly and inefficiently on the actual suppliers.
I am very interested in what proof they have Barry Bonds knew specifically he was taking steroids. I know that if I was in his situation, I would have been clear to my trainers that I am not to know anything.
Free Barry.
He (Anderson) still didn't make him (Bonds) take them. How many athlete's actually use flaxseed oil and have their head grow and muscles break out on top of muscles and their testicles shrink, acne and 'roid rage? Probably not many, but then I'm no expert. I just know when I'm being lied to. I'm still waiting for the Juice to find the real killers.
gern = human lie detector test
what's more impressive is that his radar apparently works even with his up his ass.
The radar in my ass is my stealth radar. It detects clueless ass-cowboys like lil johns pimp cup.
Lil john's pimp cup=Ass Cowboy.
"Anderson singlehandedly has destroyed the greatest record in sports.
Singlehandedly."
NOIS-
Without steroids or other illegal substances akin to steroids, there is no way Bonds defies nature and hits for the most potent home run totals of his career at age 35 and up...
73 HR's at the age of 37?? When he never came even close to that during his prime? Please.
I'm with you that Bonds, whether he had any knowledge of what he was putting in his body or not, is unfairly being portrayed as the face of the steroid problem in MLB when we all know many players were using it. But let's not act as if Bonds would have broken Aaron's record without the use of steroids.
I'm not sure how you somehow know for a fact that Bonds had absolutely no idea what he was putting in his body that was making him (and his head) blow up. It's definitely possible he may have been ignorant to some of the things going on at BALCO... but to be so sure that Bonds had no knowledge whatsoever of the drugs he was using, and which were certainly working, seems a bit off-base to me. Very unlikely.
Bonds is an asshole and his attitude has brought some of this on himself, but regardless it's definitely unfair to single the guy out just because he was better with steroids than all the others were. Everyone knows the guy was an unbelievable talent to begin with, it's just too bad. The entire era for MLB is marred.
Acting as if Bonds is completely innocent while Greg Anderson deserves all the blame is just ignorant and biased, though. There is plenty of blame to go around everywhere.
By your logic, any player who gets caught with an illegal substance can simply play dumb and blame the supplier... absolving themselves of any wrongdoing. Bottom line is that players (of every race) have to be held accountable for any and all drugs they take for performance enhancing.
A couple more things to note:
Perjury is illegal in the United States. Period.
Bonds lied to a grand jury and this is what has gotten him in trouble. He was too stubborn to come to terms with everything at a time where we all know many players were doing it.
McGwire may have looked like a bitch when he broke down and plead the fifth to the grand jury but at least that let everyone know what was up. The plead was, by default, being honest and made it official that his accomplishments are tainted. He was very embarrassed and should be, for sure.
Giambi has cooperated with league officials... something Bonds should have done but would never do because he is so arrogant.
I've already said I believe too much of this steroid issue in MLB is tabbed solely on Bonds. It is unfair to him, but he never tried making matters better for himself. He almost feeds off the animosity, and these are the reasons he is stupid and has made his own bed to lie in.
One more thing I'll add is that it is quite baffling that Rafael Palmeiro is not being convicted for perjury along with Bonds. It is well known that he lied very emphatically to the jury in the steroid hearing a while ago, only to test positive later on. He might be more of a moron than Bonds in that regard, albeit somehow luckier...
Anderson singlehandedly has destroyed the greatest record in sports.
Bonds destroyed the record and as much as you continue to look for the easy way out on every issue..the bottom line is this..Bonds cheated and broke the law and now all of his stats will be wiped away. And nothing will be solved because once again a black man fails to take any personal responsibility...what a loser.
