Tim Tebow: System QB = Systemic Heisman

Tim Tebow.

Long applauded by the media as a front runner for the Heisman. Now, after the unfortunate (and clearly medically ill advised) decision by Oregon's Mike Bellotti to play Dennis Dixon, the probable winner.

Tim Tebow.

White America's desperate attempt to win back the QB position.

Over the past few years, as we have watched Negro QB's win the Heisman, the National Championship and be top draft picks, the white QB has taken a back seat as a bland and unappealing option behind center. Drop back. Read the defense. Throw to a probably Negro receiver. Or, simply hand off to a Negro running back. Not a whole lot of excitement or fan interest generated on behalf of the pale faced 5 step drop.

This season, we witnessed the brilliance of Andre Woodson, Dennis Dixon and Patrick White, clearly displaying the evolution of the position.

Dixon was in position to lead his Ducks to a BCS title birth. White now is in that position.

And that creates a difficult and upsetting scenario for the mainstream media and their need to pump up the precious white QB.

Unfortunately, early on in the season, the media put their chips on the wrong man.

Tebow was the big name on the returning National Champion. Clearly, he was a logical choice to trumpet as a front runner from day one. Certainly, in the media's infinite wisdom, it seemed logical that the Gators would be a tough team and playing at the top of the SEC would give them the chance to mention Tebow and Heisman in as many sentences and stories as possible. Can't really fault them for making Tebow the target of their affection.

The only problem? A guy that got little mention for the first half of the season is leading an out of nowhere team on a possible BCS title run. And he has been the better player. And he isn't a system QB.

That's right.

Chase Daniels of Missouri should be the man the media is touting. Should be, that is, if we choose to discount that Dennis Dixon hasn't already shown us enough to stake his claim as the best player in the land.

Tebow is a fine player. A good player.

However, let's call it like it is. If we are told by the media that Colt Brennan of Hawai'i and Graham Harrell of Texas Tech must be discounted as legitimate Heisman candidates because they are 'system' QB's; then we must add Tim Tebow to that list of system QB's.

Tebow is playing in a system developed by Urban Meyer that was able to fool the NFL into making Alex Smith a number one pick. A system that was able to turn Chris Leak, who received more than his share of negative reviews, into a national champion.

If we are going to attribute Brennan's numbers to June Jones' run and shoot and Harrell's numbers to Mike Leach's offensive playbook, then let's give the credit for Tebow's astounding touchdown numbers to Urban Meyer.

And, while Meyer's system may not produce the constant records that are generated by the others, he certainly seems to have taken the least talent at QB and done the most with it.

Meyer pulled the wool over our eyes with Smith. Then he conjured a National title with the much maligned Leak.

Now, possibly his piece de resistance:

Taking a modestly talented white QB and using his system to help him perform an admirable impression of a Negro QB.

Tim Tebow, the ultimate system QB.

I'd say they lost at least one of those games because of Tebow. He was injured and couldn't perform against Georgia.

So, there was at least on game that you can't blame the defense!

FACT!

I could actually see how you think the Georgia game was Tebow's fault. He had negative yards rushing (because of sacks) and didn't have a stellar passing game. He still accounted for 3 TD's, though, and had no turnovers. And they still put up 30 points against a very good Georgia defense. Florida's defense couldn't stop Moreno (188 rushing yards, 3 TD's). That had a lot to do with the loss, more than Tebow in my opinion, but to each his own. I think if any loss could be attributed to Tebow it would be Auburn, but he was severely hindered by horrible play-calling (that game was just a debacle).

And I'm not going to get into a name-calling match with you guys. I presented a much more rational case based on what others have said in these comments and what the original writer wrote in his blog. He made it a black/white issue, I didn't. I'm trying to say it has nothing to do with race.

And Malcom Hex, thanks for accusing me of being pro-White. I happen to play on a team full of black kids and I'm very close friends with several of them. I tend to shy away from racial issues because they get you nowhere but upset, which is why I presented Tebow's stats, not his skin color, in my argument.

I agree Chase Daniel, Darren McFadden, Dennis Dixon, Colt Brennan, and Pat White all have very legitimate cases for the Heisman. I would actually not be completely upset if any of them won it. They're all fantastic football players, regardless of their race. I would like to think that Heisman voters don't look at race, but I can't speak for them. I think it's more pathetic that they don't vote for someone who isn't an upperclassman, personally.

So please just quit with the name-calling. It gets us nowhere.

Really, this is just a 'system' blog.

Plug in a new topic. You use some sarcasm, bait some stupid people, and make fun of the stupid shit that they say. ad nauseam.

ncwbishops, you have got to learn, the whole basis of this blog is to race bait. NOIS feels the sports media is unjust to blacks for reporting on their behavior, so his answer is to try to answer that by reversing the roles in his often moronic posts. He never seeks an end to a negative behavior, just an excuse for negros to continue with that behavior. Most of the time it goes like this...."see a white guy did that so a black guy should be able to as well". And it burns him up that the best QBs in the NFL and in college continue to be white.

Why is that Black QB's who rank @ the bottom of the league in virtually every relevant passing stastistic (except interceptions) get nominated to the Pro-Bowl their first year? (VY) Why is it that when a Black QB (McNabb) goes down for the 4th time in 7 years - leaving his team at 4-5 and a white guy comes in to win 6 games in a row - including a playoff game - The overrated Black Guy gets to come back over and over again and the white guy doesn't even get offered a contract?

Best comparison is Losman v. Young: All Losman did was take his team to the SuperBowl and put up far superior numbers to Vince Young. What do we hear from the media? "The Bears got their despite Grossman". Young on the other hand gets a Pro-Bowl shot and credit for every single win - even though his D/ST oustscored him in 5 out of 8 of his team's wins.

Face it, all those QB's you named? Get constantly REAMED by the press. McNafro and Young? "Hey, if they have bad numbers - it MUST be thier recievers". All the credit, none of the blame. Must be nice to be a "negro" QB in the NFL. Know ANY OTHER "non-negro" QB's who got to the pro-bowl on such crap numbers?

Why is everything about race? Why can't you look at a person as an individual without regards to race. Football players are a team; they don't care if you are white or black. It really doesn't matter. People like you make me sick. Tim Tebow has proven he can do it all. He broke the 20/20 record. Have you seen him play, the emotion, the way he fires up his teammates and the crowd? Its not because he is white, it is the character of the player he is. Troy Smith won the heisman last year, he is black. Too bad I never noticed that because I saw the player potential Smith had (untill we killed him 41-14 that is). You are disgusting. Seriously, football players act as brothers regardless of color. It's rascist fools like yourself that cause problems. Why can't you look away from color and just treat Tebow as an individual? Why is race so important? You are a sick sick person.

Racism is the demonstration of ignorance. One can hold a racist view, such as the one presented in this article, and one can demonstrate racism, such as denying service based on race or injuring someone based on race.

you can use your own definition of racism at your own convenience.

NOISb seems to be adopting the definition accepted in academic circles, which considers the component of power. i.e. racism being the belief that one race is superior to another, and that social outcomes are resultant from that superiority. considering the power structure in this country, it is sheer foolishness to even suggest that a black man can be racist against 'whites' under this definition.

this definition of 'racism' is distinguished from mere 'bigotry' and 'prejudice' by the inclusion of the power element. it is distinguished from 'White Supremacy' by a generality that is presently inapplicable to American culture. these distinctions make possible discussion the effects of that power as it occurs in our society, as opposed to the commonplace prejudices that individuals may carry in their heads.

your attempt to conflate 'racism' with 'bigotry', 'discrimination', or 'prejudice' is an attempt to take something out of the discussion, thereby reducing the ability to examine the effects of White Supremacy. your generation of your own definition of racism is, therefore, a racist act.

Sean said...

This is the most racist piece of trash I've ever read. Since Tebow is just a product of the system, then I suppose other black QBs who played under Meyer (e.g. Chris Leak, Josh Harris) should have rushed and thrown for 20+ TDs too right? I suppose we should all just ignore what Tebow has done because his unprecedented statistics and unbelievable play has all just been a fabrication of the media to claim the QB position back for the white man. Thank God for the Internet. Stupidity has a voice, and it belongs to this blogger.

Chuck D said...

My friend sent me this link and only said "This is funny" My response was as follows:

If by funny, you mean that the entire thing was written in satire, you are correct, since the whole "Opinion Based" article is a complete fucking farce. First off Tebow was in no way shape or form an original front-runner for the Heisman. He was a true sophomore who had never started one single college football game in his life, and everybody thought he was a one-dementional running QB that surely could not throw the ball (This despite leaving HS as the all-time leading Touchdown tosser in state history). Secondly, to call Tebow a "Sytstem QB" is just f'g sad. Yeah, congrats to Alex Smith for getting drafted first for putting up "good" #'s against the Mountain West Conference, but this hipocrite points out who Chris Leak managed to win a natioanl championship despite sucking? Anybody realize that Tebow was a part of that, and that the "SYSTEM' sure did not allow Leak to run for too many touchdowns. He says "Tebow" has had a "Pretty Good Year?" That's not true. Some people have good years, some people have great years . . . Tim Tebow has had a "HISTORICAL" year. I know you only sent this to me to get a rise out of me, and it defeintely worked. I'm sorry Kevin Smith did not get more pub, and I mean that cuz I think he should be sitting in New York on the 8th, but this Tebow bashing system QB bs is ridiculous. This guy that wrote this so fucking stupid that he talks about some imaginary person named "Chase Daniels" who should win the Heisman. Never heard of the dude, but Tebow's stiffest competition should be the Missouri QB "Chase Daniel" . . . I have so much more shit to say and back up my points, but the stats speak for themselves. Tebow is the 2nd rated passer in the country, scored more rushing TD's than any QB or SEC player in History and near a thousand yards rushing on the year.

Sir, as you seem to like to say, you are an ignorant, racist moron who knows absolutely nothing about sports. Let me actually start out by saying I really think Dennis Dixon should win the heisman because he clearly was the most important player on his team, but to say Tebow is a system quarterback is absolutely absurd.
Just like some guy said before, he has all the physical abilities you need in a quarterback(arm strength, speed, strength). By the way, thats very impressive that you can bench 450, but do you have a rocket for an arm and can you run a 4.6 40 yard dash? If you say yes, then I'm pretty sure that would mean you are Donovan Mcnabb, so I'm actually hoping for a yes because that would be cool to be able to talk to one of my favorite players in the league.
Seriously though, have you watched Tebow play this year? I go to uconn so I've only been able to catch him a few times, but the talent he has is just unbelievable. Don't get me wrong, I love watching White and Dixon play, but I can't see White becoming a good NFL quarterback, Dixon I'm not sure about. As far as White is concerned, he is a run first quarterback who doesn't exactly have a great arm. Mike Vick was another run first qb, and he actually had a spectacular arm, and he clearly didnt work out(not even talking about the dog fighting, last year he had a 52 completion percentage and the Falcons went 7-9). I haven't seen enough of Dixon to fairly evaluate him so I'll stay off of that. Don't even bother saying I'm a racist because you'll simply be wrong, I just can't see White's game translating well into the NFL.
Back to Tebow though, if you think he's a system quarterback look at Leak's numbers last year as a fourth year starting senior and look at Tebow's numbers this year, they aren't even close.
You also said something along the lines of his stats being inflated because nobody else can score for them.
This is probably the dumbest thing you said in all of your senseless rambling because you actually weakened your own argument that Tebow is a system quarterback. If they have nobody else to score for them wouldn't that mean the opposing defense would focus on Tebow, making it harder for him to score?
Basically, you might have written the worst article I have ever read in my life. Although I agree racism still exists, people like you take every little thing as some sort of conspiracy against their race and always complain, yet you don't realize its you who continues racism and are the main reason that this world will never be void of it.

Your views are tantamount to that of Hitler, extolling a supposed master race. You should take a look at South Africa where white athletes have clocked sub 10 seconds in the 100 metres and dominate rugby football, despite being the minority. all the current heavyweight champs are white while liu xiang and jeremy wariner dominate their various short track athletic events. Tiger woods dominates golf, a game traditionally played by whites, while the spanish are world basketball champs, despite the overwhelming numbers of players available to the United states .To propose that one race to be superior in sport and hence more deserving of the accolades afforde d from such endevours is both shortsighted and prejudicial of the most egregious nature. Have the words of the great Martin Luther King fallen upon deaf ears.

PS your lucky that American football has never been exported globally because its clear the great sporting powers of Australia, South Africa, Russia and the Europeans would probably defeat you. I mean your the only major nation in the world where basketball is one of the primary sports and you cant even reach the final of the world championship in a sport you created. this coupled with the fact that the only credible professional league in the world is the NBA. This should be of great embarassment to you. On the subject of why the profesional leagues of America are dominated by African-Americans, there is no denying that those of the west african diaspora have propensity to run marginally faster times however the fact the great swathes of inequalities in america has lead to the subjugation of african americans means that those who come from poorer backgrounds are more likely to succeed because they want it more. one point of concession though, white american men are on average 5'8.5 in height, 60 years ago they were 5'9. The average Dutch man is 6'0 while the rest of European men average over 5'10. Its obvious White american men are getting shorter and fatter.that may be of the point, but it may lead to a more concrete reason as to why african americans dominate american sport

Nation of Islam Sportsblog:

Wow. What an interesting thing, as a white anglo-saxon protestant, to be on the receiving end of racism. You can`t have it both ways, you know. If you don`t want to be discriminated against based on your race or religion, you cannot be discriminatory against others based on their race or religion.

As for Tim Tebow, (to coin a phrase) `me thinks thou dost protest too much.` Numbers don`t lie; the truth is obvious. The fact that you cannot and do not recognize truth is your problem, not anyone elses. I pray that God removes the veil from your eyes about this and so many other things about which your are clearly misguided.
