Follow Up: Kircus Charged

In a follow up to a post yesterday, Broncos' receiver David Kircus has now been charged with assault.

"Obviously if he didn't handle himself the right way he won't be with us," Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said. "But I'm going to let the due process take care of itself first and find out exactly what the situation is."

Nice to see someone in the NFL using the term "due process" and waiting to find out the particulars and letting law enforcement handle the details.

But, one supposes, it's much easier to remember the tenants of justice and to give the benefit of the doubt, when the individual charged is not only white, but is one of the rarest of creatures: a white receiver.

We suspect a white running back could be caught with a smoking gun, and still hold his roster spot.

Now he gets charged and that is not even good enough. What AJ Nicholsons ran into was a problem with the organization. They have been so screwed up in Cincinnati that they just couldnt afford any more bad press. What Nicholson needs to do now is find himself a good woman who doesnt go around pounding herself in the face with a cell phone....that was the best one yet!!

Sir, huh?

We lodged no complaint against Kircus. Or the charges.

Our initial complaint was that in cases involving Negroes, the media doesn't what for charges to be filed. They splash the front page with the details of the incident.

In this case, they waited.

Our second observance was that it was a breath of fresh air to see a football person (Shanahan) basically say, "slow your roll" let's wait for due process to decide this guys fate.

It would just be nice if the same attitude was applied to everyone.

Not just the players who fall on to the "endangered species" list in the NFL.

First of all Pacmans troubles didnt reach the front pages until they started mounting up. He was forgiven for alot of stuff because he is talented. Secondly, the jets did not immediately take any action against their kick returner who was arrested...he is black and they are not jumping the gun.
Why cant you just see that it is when patterns of behavior mount up that things get out of control with the media. The Bengals have to be overly cautious now because of the pattern of bad behavior of several of their players...Nicholson was a victim of that. He was a low level talent and the organization couldnt suffer any more headaches.

Sir, who mentioned Pacman?

Secondly, we complained about the media. Not the Jets taking action.

Are you even on the same post?

Saying it was a breath of fresh air indicates that this does not happen often when in fact it has happened twice in the SAME WEEK.

Sir, clearly, you haven't been paying attention for the last year or so.

To make the appropriate analogy:

On Sept 11, 2001, two buildings were attacked by terrorist guided airplanes. Twice in the same day, skyscrapers in NY were blown up.

To your logic, we can call this event "usual" or "common"...After all, it happened TWICE in the same day. That's even MORE frequent than twice in a week.

Right?

Right?

that is even a stretch for you...i mean you must be made of rubber...the attacks were all part of the same event. What I am talking about are individual events with the same outcomes. Dont use 9/11 to further your idiotic diatribes...it makes you seem even more dense.
