Around the NFL

Just some NFL notes...

- Roger Goodell is embarrassed that Clinton Portis doesn't think dog fighting is a big deal. He basically scolded Portis and said that Portis does not represent the views of the NFL. It was important that Goodell pointed that out, as we are certain that most folks that saw the sound bite figured that Portis was espousing the leagues views.

- The Steelers are still trying to figure out that porn email fiasco. One of their coaches "accidentally" emailed some porn to all the leagues GM's, their secretaries...and Roger Goodell. While he has been quite vocal in regard to Portis voicing his opinion that dog fighting is no big deal, Goodell has been mum on the porn issue. Apparently the commish has no problem with receiving porn himself, or all the secretaries receiving unsolicited porn.

Sir, am I understanding this correctly - it is okay for the white devils to have their black 'employees' fight each other for money, but it is not okay for these black 'employees' to have employees of their own that fight each other for money?

Sir, you are correct.

Aparently, the NFL expected Michael Vick to allow those 70 odd dogs to live on his property rent free.

Fellow sisters and brothers,

While this post is discussing the league of football players,

I want to show the sunlight of enlightenment on a sister sport of baseball players,

The Tribune company has long played the role like so many other plantation masters,

However, I had a conversation with the board that filled its members full of quivers,

To begin to rectify the injustices the Tribune company has hired a team of sculptors,

A statue of Ernie Banks will now be erected upon a pedestal laid by bricklayers,

MLB has come to grip with our powers,

Soon, Rainbow/PUSH will be THE union of players.

It sounds like a joke.

But j.jackson is pretty close to being spot on.

And, I'd like to add.

I saw the Portis interview. He and Samuels had the giggles through the whole thing. And Portis even said something along the lines of "Micheal Vick is a fine upstanding member of society."

This seemed like a joke. Sarcastic.

You should get Clinton as a guest commentor.

Oh, so what you are so cleverly insinuating is that their is some bias behind Goodell slapping Portis and not saying much about the coach that sent the porn.

Maybe it's because the porn thing was an accident?

While Portis is obviously a low life dipshit, it was clearly no accident.

micheal vick should be suspended.

terms of reinstatement should be that he has to fight a pit bull.

How does one get on that email list?

Really? And where can I contact your foundation at?

yea, buddy. having his agent and business manager set up a foundation in his name proves he is wonderful.

like all the high rollin' hip hop wannabe NFLers, he is probably one of the worst things that young black kids can look up to.

No just that you had a chance to say that equating animal cruelty with playing in the NFL is just dumb but of course you wouldnt call anyone out.

The wife of Tampa Bay Devil Rays rookie outfielder Elijah Dukes filed for a restraining order against her husband and said she fears for her life, The St. Petersburg Times reported Wednesday.
NiShea Gilbert, a middle-school teacher, said that Dukes allegedly burst into her classroom at lunchtime in April. A frightened Gilbert then ran to the principal and got a deputy, who banished Dukes from the school.

Gilbert told a Florida court that Dukes threatened to kill her and sent her a photo of a handgun to her cell phone.

Gilbert played a voice mail allegedly from Dukes for the newspaper. "You dead, dawg. I ain't even [expletive]. Your kids, too."

I didnt see this posted on your blog and just wanted to give you the heads up....now how do we spin this...is slavery the cause?? or the white ownership of the devil "no pun intended" rays?? no no the white jews in the media for reporting this....lets go with that one. Maybe the voicemail was a white cop impersonating the voice of Dukes.
or you can stand up and call it what it is...an embarrassment...a guy who has been given multiple chances because he is a gifted athlete and still cant get things straight.

Sir,

Put two and two together here.

You've answered your own question.

Clearly, with his past history, the Rays' (that is the shortened nickname of the team...no one calls them the Devils..) white owners bare irrevocable responsibility.

Rather than direct him towards the anger management he need. Instead of acting humanely towards a man that needed some guidance, they chose to look the other way because he can play ball. Dismissing his pleads (through action) for help...and just worrying about getting him on the field.

And, now the cruelty directed at Dukes from the devilish ownership is converted by Dukes to his wife.

The greed of the Rays ownership has definately jeopardized a happy marriage and put two children at risk of having their home broken.

HA HA HA..THE BEST SPIN YET...further proof that the last thing on your mind is personal responsibility...this guy is an animal.

A new low on the stupidity scale...you continue to outdo yourself nois.

I should have known..let me explain...playing in the NFL is a choice...these dogs who are forced to kill each other have no choice. A guy says the glory and money I will make outweighs the physical toll it takes to play in the NFL. But again someone who doesnt acknowledge personal responsibility wouldnt acknowledge personal choice either. I mean are you this dumb? I know you have to play a game on your blog but man how are you not embarrassed. The tag line on your blog is appropriate there are "no truths" in almost everything you write.

First of all, to understand what happened to Killer, you gotta understand who Killer the dog was.

I think at the end of the day, we can all blame Tito Liebowitz.

Sir, we have watched Animal Planet.

Animals with emotional issues and disposition problems receive more support and counselling than this man.

So, while we understand your analogy pertaining to Rays' ownership treating him like an animal to mean that he has been mistreated.

It doesn't do justice to the situation.

Kind Sir, Mr. UM-

It looks as if it never will.

Martin's comment that started this thread...well, who would have thought that...umm...well. I don't want to spoil it. But seriously, who would have thought it would have led to interpretation and explanation.

You know we are rarely at a loss for words here.

But.....

He is like teflon.

Sir, it would appear the issues didn't fully manifest themselves until he was a part of the Devil Rays' organization.

Besides, we assume your parents have been a big part of your life. And look at the irrational, racist waste you turned out to be.

We'd guess, that you'd be violent as well (based on your unabashed hate), but don't have the physical ability to enact your violent thoughts.

Thank goodness you are just a hateful mouth. And nothing else.

"Sir, it happens quite frequently here."

Then, sir, I've either already spent too much time here or too little.

Once again white man shows his love for dogs and hatred for Negroes.

How, you may ask, can this be true? Surely the historical fact that white man has treated them in similar fashion would indicate similar feelings to the two groups.

But you see, when you treat a dog like that, he is grateful.

nation_of_islam_sportsblog said...

"Once again white man shows his love for dogs and hatred for Negroes."

Sir...ok, you have our interest...

"Surely the historical fact that white man has treated them in similar fashion would indicate similar feelings to the two groups."

ooops...you lost us.

Does the white man love dogs and hate Negroes, or does he have similar feeling for them?

And by the time you get to your punchline about the dogs being grateful...we don't care. Cause you have us too confused with trying to figure out whether the white man likes dogs more or less than he likes Negroes.

You ended up overcomplicating your joke, and losing the audience because you lost your chain of thought.

The punch line had potential.

Try again?

Anonymous said...

You already know white men like dogs more than Negroes. I din't have to tell you that.

I just thought it was a little blunt and without adventure to say: 'Since they treat Negroes like dogs, why don't they love Negroes like dogs?' I prefer a more oblique approach.

and it ain't a punchline, it's more of a deranged thesis.

'cause the shit ain't funny

Anonymous said...

"You ended up overcomplicating your joke..." True. Intentionally.

"...and losing the audience..." True. Unintentional.

"because you lost your chain of thought." False. You can change one word to make this true.

Anonymous said...

Sir, it would appear the issues didn't fully manifest themselves until he was a part of the Devil Rays' organization.

oh really..i think you should get your facts straight..

Dukes had a troubled childhood in Tampa and numerous off-field legal issues, but he was a third-round draft pick by the Rays in 2002 and signed with them rather than pursue a college football career.

Funny how it was the Rays fault now for giving him a chance. You will never admit that personal responsiblity plays a role in anything...and that is pathetic. If not for the Rays this guy would probably be dead already or have killed someone else.

nation_of_islam_sportsblog said...

"If not for the Rays this guy would probably be dead already or have killed someone else."

Sir, the Rays let him down.

When you sign a player to a million dollar contract you assume the responsibility of ensuring his stability and emotional well being.

If you are going to address responsibility, you can not do so without acknowledging the employer-employee responsibilities that the Rays ignore.

Humanely, you just can't.

The Rays pulled this young man from a difficult environment, pumped him full of expectations and money...and did nothing to help him adjust.

Where's the responsibility in that?

Anonymous said...

Are we talking about an adult here? when a team pays a player they assume they are getting a good athlete who will try to perform to the best of his abilities...if he needed counseling he surely had enough money to get some on his own. For someone who resents the slave mentality you sure revert to it alot when it suits your "blame culture" needs.

nation_of_islam_sportsblog said...

"Are we talking about an adult here?"

Sir, don't pro sports leagues have conduct rules and guidelines?

Obviously, they DON'T expect the players to act as adults.

They can't have it both ways.

They can't have all these rules and codes and what not, and then NOT provide anger management and counseling.

That is just ridiculous.

Blame is assigned when it is warrented.

Any rational mind would agree that the team deserves the blame here.

Only a racist mind looking for an out for the white owners would make this case against the player.

Sir, doesnt every major company in america have guidelines and rules of conduct? if you are unemployed i will help you... the answer is yes. People are expected to act as adults. Also the D-rays did provide counseling you idiot

Sir, one of our contributors works for a fortune 100 company and he says:

"I dare this guy to find ONE major company in this country that does not include counselling as part of its HR benefits. It is a standard now."

So, with that in mind. We suggest that corporate America DOES in fact provide counselling and guidance for employees that demonstrate a need.

Next "point"?

nation_of_islam_sportsblog said...

Sir, the D-rays didn't provide anything. The d-rays simply did what they could to keep this guy on the field.

The only person offering this guy counselling is Gary Sheffield.

THank you for caring when the white owners don't, Brother Shef.

HA HA HAAAA....he will learn how to last on every team he plays for for 3 years or less. You are a joke. The braves probably dont want any black players for this very reason. Too much of a headache.
