Whitlock: Calling Out Andy Reid

While we do admit that we fully agree with Jason Whitlock's latest attempt at being controversial, we wonder why he waited so long to say anything?

Whitlock suggested that Andy Reid is not being held over the fire by the media in relation to his children's problems and that if he was some one else (read: Negro) much to do would be being made about his thug-life, gangsta wannabe chi'drens.

Whitlock also recommended that Reid step away from the game for awhile and get his house in order.

Valid points. Intelligent points.

Points we at NOIS made way back in August.

At the time, Reid was being given the kid glove treatment by the media. We at NOIS received a bombardment of comments and emails telling us how outrageous it was of us to suggest that Reid was culpable for his children's behavior or that his outside issues would have an ill effect on his abilities to run his program.

However, as is the case more often than not (read: always), the mainstream media is slowly coming around to the NOIS way of thinking on this.

We predict that you will begin to see more columnists/commenter's addressing this. Watching football broadcasts this weekend past, we were treated to a discussion on this very topic and even heard one air personality wonder aloud as to why Reid is not being grilled a la Michael Vick.

Certainly, that question was quickly squashed by the rest of the in studio talking heads. But, it can't be denied that more and more 'football' people are beginning to wonder if Reid is getting preferential treatment. Or even doing right by his family by not walking away for awhile.

The notion that a great mind and a powerful voice such as that of Whitlock is now essentially echoing our righteous sentiment is certainly a clear sign that our influence over the mainstream media is greater than we are being given credit for.

Something that we discussed in detail at our recent NOIS leadership symposium was the influence/power of Blogfrica over the sports media industry. And the effects and fear the industry has developed because of the influence emerging from Blogfrica.

What we are seeing is symptomatic. A concerted effort by the mainstream media to attempt to capture the 'controversial' opinions propagated by Blogfrica. An effort to pretend that they, the mainstreamers, are at the forefront of the molding and development of the influence of thought process, which is actually being guided by Blogfrica. Check out the recent Gregg Doyel column on cbssportsline.com about Joe Torre. We've been reading stuff like that on blogs for weeks now.

This is something we propose to follow more closely. A prominent columnist from ESPN.com allowed us his own insight on this, stating that folks in the internet sports media bizz are "shook" about the influence of blogs.

We at NOIS didn't choose to lead this movement.

The movement chose us.

weirdo. you get off imagining NOIS "fellate" himself?

What do you do, stick your finger in your pussy and imagine NOIS with nothing on but his bowtie, bent over like a gay male gymnast sucking himself off?

Freak.

"gay male gymnast"

that's redundant.

actually, it's kinda interesting.

cause if take the phrase "gay male gymnast"....and break it up

you're right.

it is redundent.

Sir, what Whitlock fails to realize is that the Nubian coach Tony Dungy has already shown us the best way to handle a son who is disrupting his coaching.

good point, burnsy.

we can look for the Nubian coach Ray Sherman for further guidance on how to handle a Nubian son as well.

Sir, we know why you lack understanding. scroll back through the comments a few posts ago. the subject of the penile- and melanin-challenged white male has already been discussed this month.

and, wow. it's interesting how a certain twosome are ALWAYS so quick to imagine/discuss other commenters' male sexual organs.

Burnsy and Dave, i hope one day you suffer the loss of a child. or eat shit and die. whichever.

"McNabb is a gunslinger.."

Sir, while that descriptor works for a 'Favre' type QB (read: white), when applied to a 'McNabb' type QB, the association with firearms is something that the mainstream media would use as a means to present McNabb as a thug and threat to the white, suburban children in the stands.

We can achieve the desired effect of portraying McNabb as carefree and loving the game....and, at the same time, avoid allowing the mainstream media to run off in a different direction with the intended meaning of the description by conforming in this instance to depicting the same characteristics by choosing a different phrase:

'McNabb is a minstrel.'

The carefree and fun point gets across. And the white media is happy.

Again it is not the negative behavior you have a problem with, just the response. When it was Elijah Dukes threatening to kill the mother of his child, you said that getting him help was the responsibility of the organization he works for. Basically you came up with reasons that his behavior was not his own responsibility. You do not wish to hold negros up to a higher standard, you just wish that negros could be allowed to get away with negative behaviors or not be criticized for negative behavior. Again you are just part of the advancement of the failure culture.

as for mcnabb, maybe andy reid is being given a bit of a pass here because the fans in philly realize how much he has accomplished while saddled with an inferior quarterback. The negro mcnabb constantly given a pass because of his skin color...no more proof is needed than the fact the team took off last year when jeff garcia took over..yet they could not keep garcia because the great black hope was on the roster.

nation_of_islam_sportsblog said...

"Again it is not the negative behavior you have a problem with, just the response."

Sir, what negative behavior?

We never accused Reid per se of negative behavior. Just the inability to properly parent. We accused his thuglife offspring of negative behavior

Seems YOU are the one that has aligned his actions with the phrase 'negative behavior'. Interesting.

Early on, you said he wasn't responsible for his kids actions. Now you accuse Reid of 'negagive behavior'.

Pick a side.

We can't prove you wrong if you don't stick to a point of view.

nation_of_islam_sportsblog said...

Sir, saddled is an appropriate term.

Reid was more than happy to saddle and then ride that 'inferior' QB to 4 straight conference title games, wasn't he?

When did i say Reid had no responsibility in his kids actions...you are a liar as usual. I will clearly say that a parent has a responsibility to raise his kids the right way and his being absent due to the grind of coaching surely must have contributed to his childrens lack of discipline. Clearly you can have sympathy for Mr. Reid, i mean the lack of fathers raising their kids is a huge reason your community is in a shambles. It clearly shows how a behavior or lack thereof can negatively influence...time to take some personal responsibility dont ya think. But your twisted logic would dictate that if the white Andy Reid can do a crappy job as a father then why shouldnt african americans get a free pass for it as well.

You yourself said the Eagles success was soley attributable to the system instituted by Andy Reid.
McNabb was lucky enough to be in that system but even Reids coaching could not win a super bowl with an intellectually challenged field general.

I remember that thread and censored cyber screaming about how you were wrong for suggesting that Reid should in anyway be asked to step aside because of the actions of his kids. His argument was that they were of age so he Reid is not responsible. Even tho the kids lived in his home.

And now the comments are deleted.

Hey moron, i dont even know what you are talking about. I shouldnt be surprised because your whole blog is just about making stuff up out of nowhere. I fully agree that Reid has a degree of responsibilty for the actions of his kids. Obviously the hours he put into coaching cost him hours he should have been spending with his family. The difference is that I dont defend him just because he is white....if Reid was black I am sure you would be coming up with hundreds of reasons why it was societies fault that his kids are messed up. Again your basic argument is not that african americans shouldnt partake in negative behavior...all you look for is an example of when a white person does something negative to point it out and say "hey, if he can do that we can too". Your utopia would be a land of no personal responsibility, where you pass the buck and blame everyone but yourself...but in that land nothing ever gets done. Your culture is proof of that.

Wow that was very good....mimicking the evil white media by taking my words out of context....just shows how you refuse to see the truth and why you continue to regress.

NO the truth is it was NOIS and your assertion that it was illogical and poorly written is a good one. Thanks for agreeing with me. The sad thing is that if andy reid was negro his lack of fathering skills wouldnt be criticized just accepted as the norm. Or NOIS would paint the picture that because of whitey he would have no choice but to be a bad father.

Sir, out of context?

We pointed out that we get an email from blogger whenever someone makes a comment of deletes one they made previously on our blog.

We received such an email identifying YOU as having done so.

We made you aware.

You feigned ignorance.

Or, in your terms, avoided RESPONSIBILITY.

How did we take your words out of context?

All we did was APPLY them to your desire to avoid responsibility.

That is what you want, isn't it? For people to be held accountable then to be called out when they try to hide from it?

Well, all we did was oblige you.

Fully within your own context.

ultrasound tech said...

ummm, Reid isn't black...so your pathetic point is moot.

can't you see that you constantly try to apply nonparellel things to each other. or in simpler terms for you, you constantly compare apples and oranges.

it doesn't work.
