Final Mail Call

An important email question we received.

And a more important answer.

Hi,
Does Nation of Islam Sports have an opinion on the NBC football night in America pre game show where they have two separate desks? One desk is 3 white guys, and than there is a separate desk where Jerome Bettis and Tiki Barber sit with Cris Colinsworth. I feel like NBC is openly segregating black from white while at the same time trying to make Cris Colinsworth more black, which while interesting at first does not work at all. What are your thoughts?

Yours,
He who seeks righteous knowledge*

The righteous reply:

Sir, we see it differently. We see it as an affront to Bettis. A proud, Detroit Negro. He is forced to sit with two white men, Barber and Colinsworth, in an effort to force him to modify his behavior and make himself conscious of his Negro-ness. It's clearly an effort to stifle Bettis' expressive abilities and a thinly veiled message that he needs to stay in line and follow Barber's example of how the network believes a 'Negro' should act. This is an alarming issue and we fully appreciate that you have taken it to task in your own personal reflections. As you watch football pregame shows, realize that they aren't about football. They are about subconsciously molding the Negro viewer into the white man's image.
Fight on righteously.
NOIS

how dare NBC try to use Tiki Barber as an example of the way a negro should act. He is educated, speaks english well, and is a married father. If negro viewers start taking his lead NOIS would have nothing to complain about. It is much better this way...with NOIS constantly having to come up with creative and sarcastic ways to defend any criminals that happen to be negro. Keep advancing your fine cause...defending the worst of your people and bringing down the best.

i guess ESPN has a different notion of how blacks should act then, huh, censored? since they clearly put that well spoken Emmitt Smith on as there example of a way blacks should act...

man, that was one of the dumber things you have posted on here, censored. and it TOTALLY exposes how racist you are.

NO i dont it is a plot by the whiteys at NBC. Everyone knows blacks learn how to act from watching UPN or whatever they call it these days.

yes ESPN does...just the smiths alone (emmitt and steven a.) espn has turned into a modern day minstrel show.

Nothing wrong with the way Emmitt acts; however, he clearly should not be masquerading as the 'on-air talent' for the network. His inability to speak standard english -- seriously, have you heard another announcer mangle subject/verb tenses as often as #22? -- should lead to his removal after the season, or at the very least, his transfer elsewhere in the organization. The jockocracy must be more selective about who interacts with the viewer.

Emmitt was a great football player, but like Joe Montana, he sucks as an analyst.

You're right, NOIS. This is an issue of utmost importance. Someone must put a stop to these diabolical, racist seating arrangements. Someone call Al Sharpton!!

What's next, the networks shouldn't make any black analysts wear suits to work because they are illegally forcing an image of professionalism onto these poor black souls?!?!?
