The argument for Tim Tebow winning the Heisman goes, 'no QB has ever put up stats like his, therefore he is the most outstanding player this year.'
And, honestly it's tough to argue that. Stats like Tebow's DO deserve Heisman consideration. In fact, we would even go so far as to agree: Stats like Tebow's from a QB deserve the Heisman.
3360 yards and 23 TD's passing.
1008 yards and 17 TD's rushing.
Yup. Hard to argue 3000+ yards passing and 1000+ yards rushing not being Heisman worthy. We aren't inclined to fact check, but (unless told differently) we assume that this has never been done before.
When you put the numbers on the table, we can all agree. Numbers like these and doing something that has never been done before deserve the Heisman.
Case closed. And, since Tebow/Florida fans made the case based on stats and historic achievement, we are sure that they won't have any argument with the verdict:
Central Michigan's Dan LeFevour deserves the Heisman. The stats listed are his.
Sure, Tebow scored a few more TD's. But, LeFevour played on a team that actually had other players score touchdowns.
LeFevour's 17 rushing TD's only accounted for 50% of his teams TD's on the ground. CMU actually had a RUNNING BACK with double digit TD's.
For those that argue that CMU played in their conference championship game (giving an extra game for stats); we say that Florida had the chance to do that, if Tebow had led them to it. The point is moot anyway as LeFevour had 39 fewer rushes than Tebow for the season, regardless.
Some will argue that playing in the SEC should give Tebow an advantage in the voting.
We agree that playing in the SEC for Florida does give Tebow an advantage. An advantage in being surrounded by blue chip talented team mates who ensure that the opposition can't disregard the rest of the team when game planning.
Lefevour does not have that luxury. He is a one man team. A one man wrecking squad doing things that NO college quarterback has EVER done before.
And, the ultimate guru of system QB'ing -June Jones- has NEVER labelled LeFevour a 'system' QB.
If anyone knows a system quarterback, it's Coach Jones.
And if anyone deserves the Heisman for putting together a never before seen season by a quarterback, it's Dan LeFevour.
Gator fans, you had it dead on:
The QB who passed and ran for more yardage than anyone ever has and scored a ridiculous amount of TD's deserves the Heisman.
We ALL agree.

"Tebow=heisman and all your crying wont change it...the color of that trophy is wrong."
wow. i have just been getting caught up on this page. and YOU have literally spent the entire day commenting on here.
obsess much?
"obsess much?"
Sir, ever see 'Blades of Glory'?
We at NOIS have our very own Hector.
Our Hector has, and sitemeter confirms, actually spent his entire day here. He has, at this point, over 100 page views and has accumuated over 4 hours of time on the site. He has literally sat there for long stretches during the day just waiting for people to comment.
Someone needs daddy to pay him some attention.
"Our Hector has, and sitemeter confirms, actually spent his entire day here. He has, at this point, over 100 page views and has accumuated over 4 hours of time on the site. He has literally sat there for long stretches during the day just waiting for people to comment."
jesus. you write the blog and probably don't sit there all day like this guy.
hard to believe someone could hate negroes so much!
Someone needs daddy to pay him some attention.
yeah 70 percent of negro kids do.
"censored said...
Someone needs daddy to pay him some attention.
yeah 70 percent of negro kids do."
damn, like clockwork!
NOIS, watch your back, this cat seems completely obsessed with you.
This is honestly creepy.
"This is honestly creepy."
Well, it seems like NOIS gets the best of him, and he just keeps trying and trying to somehow get a zinger in there or beat NOIS in a debate. It's become a futile and unhealthy obsession.
censored, get ya to a head shrinker. you need to work these issues out homey, for real, i'm worried about you.
So, what you are saying is, that Tebow's amazing season isn't an amazing season after all?
"Central Michigan's Dan LeFevour deserves the Heisman. The stats listed are his."
Amen!
Fantastic numbers and he led the Chippewas to their second consecutive MAC Championship!
Sir, you've outdone yourself. The jorts-wearing Gators now know what it's like to be fun-n-gunned.
I just reviewed the list of previous heisman winners and there has never been a winner from a "directional school". No western, southern, northeast or central anything.
I am a gator and not that caught up in the heisman deal, but why are you awarding him the trophy. He hasn't won anything yet, except that MNC last year as a role player.
NOIS, can't you ban censored? He is way too personal.
"No western, southern, northeast or central anything."
Sir, we seem to recall a little directional school called SOUTHERN California being the home to multiple winners.
We'll try and confirm this...
the only issue with USC is that it is a private university. i believe the poster meant that no directional public school has won the heisman. that could be wrong, but i believe that was the intention. central michigan, for what it's worth, is a public university.
"central michigan, for what it's worth, is a public university."
what kind of snob are you? so a public university isn't good enough to have a player win the heisman? wtf?
One thing is correct about your post... you aren't inclined to check any facts. Tebow has 29 passing TD's for 3132 and 22 rushing for 838. Do you just make this shit up or what? His 20/20 is the first in NCAA history, as well as the most total TD's in history and the highest passer rating. Yes, case closed.
"Tebow has 29 passing TD's for 3132 and 22 rushing for 838. Do you just make this shit up or what?"
Sir, ???
The stats we presented, and clearly stated, were DAN LEFEVOUR'S, not T-bow's.
We also acknowledged that T-bow scored more TD's than LeFevour.
What exactly did we make up???
LeFevour is the first guy to throw for 3K and rush for 1K. T-bow didn't. And frankly, THAT is more impressive than 20/20. LeFevour only needed 3 TD's to get the 20/20....but his team actually uses RUNNING BACKS, who actually score TD's....
Anyway, we don't even know what you are referencing in your comment when you tell us we made something up. Unless...and we hasten to add that we would laugh hysterically at your ignorance..YOU thought the stats we listed were T-bows. WE CLEARLY STATED THEY WERE NOT.
You Gator's fans sure don't bother to read much, do you?
" Do you just make this shit up or what? "
Get your eyes checked. The stats presented in the post were 100% accurate.
Maybe you should head back to J-School since you don't mention LeFevour in the preceding paragraphs or until 4 paragraphs later. "In fact, we would even go so far as to agree: Stats like Tebow's from a QB deserve the Heisman." You then go on to list the stats. I know now you were trying to throw out some numbers and then "spring the trap."
As usual though i had no idea what you were talking about (insert weak comeback from NOIS).
The fact remains that Tebow's numbers are way better against an astronomically more impressive schedule of opponents (4 in the top 25). With the exception of a half-assed Kansas and Clemson (who they got totally smoked by) C. Michigan plays no one (Purdue blows too) . With teams like Central Michigan on their roster, it's no wonder Kansas did so well this year. With regards to LeFevour, honestly, how hard is it to run up some big numbers in the MAC? I could probably put up 10 TD's myself and i haven't played for ten years.
"I know now you were trying to throw out some numbers and then "spring the trap.""
so, you are saying nois set a trap...your dumbass fell for it....and you are mad at nois?
you, sir, are a dipshit.
"As usual though i had no idea what you were talking about"
it's NOIS' fault you have low reading comprehension?
Did you notice that NO ONE else made the mistake YOU made?
That should tell you something.
"In fact, we would even go so far as to agree: Stats like Tebow's from a QB deserve the Heisman."
Dear Matt,
You are a special boy. And special boys should probably have someone else read things to them.
Sounds like you started reading the post, got a boner because you thought NOIS was right next to riding Tebow's cock, then got your feelings hurt when you realized you were solo and it wasn't a circle jerk.
Not only can't you read. But you are a fag.
(that last remark was taken directly from the dave the wave guide to blog commenting)
"Maybe you should head back to J-School "
normally, i appreciate when people point out how stupid NOIS is...but i have to agree with the other dipshit posters here. you are a dumbass.
how the hell could you make the mistake of comparing nois shit to journalism?
based on that alone i add you to my list of retarded nois posters.
and madd retard is right, you are a fag.
You had me at "Dan LeFevour"
sharpton, i'm sorry for the miscommunication, i didn't mean it in any sort of derogatory way. i attend a public school. i was just saying that central michigan is a public school and no directional public school has won a heisman trophy. anyways, it is almost guaranteed that the heisman winner will come from a public university.
catfight much??
"catfight much??"
rowwwwwr...bitch!
Great post, but I'm a little disappointed. If ever there was a counterpoint to the "historical season of Tim Tebow" talk, it's found in two words, Steve McNair. In 1994 he threw for 4,863 yards and 44 Touchdowns. He also ran for 936 Yards. I can't find his rushing touchdowns total, but I'm guessing it's at least 8.
Mr. McNair, finished 3rd in the heisman voting.
@Matt:
Easy to have bigger numbers in a tougher conference when playing in that tougher conference means having better talent around you (Wr's to take CB's out of plays, O-linemen, etc). Having these players around you helps propel you towards said numbers (as stated by NOIS).
LeFevour has been a one-man wrecking crew. MAC opponents have had to game plan around both his arm and his legs, and still have been unable to stop him from putting up the type of numbers he put up (yardage and TDs). He's put these numbers up despite having less talented WR's and O-Linemen than Florida.
The fact that he hasn't even been mentioned in the national media is a traveshamockery.
"Maybe you should head back to J-School since you don't mention LeFevour in the preceding paragraphs or until 4 paragraphs later."
MATT: Holy Shit. What a fuckin' moran.
It was waiting until the 4th paragraph to unveil the surprise that makes the article worthy of a J-school seminar, dumbass.
Irony much?
From MATT:
"As usual though i had no idea what you were talking about (insert weak comeback from NOIS)."
Translated:
As usual I am a dumb fuck who has no ability to keep up with anything unless it is written by other dumbass Florida fans on the GatorBoard.

Sir, you make an excellent point. And, with utmost certainty, QB McNair's collegiate exploits certainly push T-bow's 'historic' season through the bowels of mediocrity.
However, we felt for the purposes of demonstrating how pedestrian T-bow's performance this season truly was (the young man is not without talent, but his talent is irrefutably the product of the same system that built the hated C. Leak into a national champion)we'd juxtapose his performance with a QB most folks aren't even hearing about.
Certainly if the media isn't making a big deal of LeFevour's stats (which surpass many of T-bow's), then 3k, 1k and a bunch of TD's is no big deal.
If LeFevour is no big deal.
T-bow is no big deal.
So, let's move on to a new topic.
There is nothing to see in LeFevour...therefore there is nothing to see in T-bow.
Whoops! In my defense (if that is possible), I have learned to tune out all things SoCal during football season to avoid the nausea created by the annual coronation of USC as national champs by the media. The best team ever, blah blah. Year in, year out, yadda yadda yadda.
Oh yeah, and it was early in the morning.
Confusing a bloggers opinion and journalism is the reason idiots like Steven A Smith say bloggers should have no forum to discuss (his word being "disseminate") relevant sports issues and events.
NOIS, good job on this one. I've been trying to tell Gator fans about Dan Lefevour for a good month, but they don't listen to things like "a legitimate running back". That, and I guess I'm the only person in America that watched the Ole Miss game...Timmy boy looked like hell in that game.
Either way, they (the Gator Nation if you will) will know better next year when Moody joins that backfield off his transfer and a real threat at RB will be able to take Tebow's numbers into the realm of other QBs in college.
To the guy with the Steve McNair example...good call....Rashan Salaam wowed just too many people for numbers to factor as much as the Tebow supporters are pushing this year. I'm hoping Darren McFadden will have the same result.
To the guy who has issue with directional schools...is South Carolina private? Nope. There was a guy named George Rogers there that took the Heisman in 1980. He beat some guy named Herschel and the punky QB they call McMahon.
I will just say this: Tebow, by HIMSELF, has more TDs than all but 15 schools in NCAA D1-- more than the whole Ohio St team, more than UGA, more than Rutgers, more than Oregon-- by HIMSELF. Also, you cannot detract from someone having an abnormally large number of TDs vs the rest of his team- thats penalizing him for being good. TEBOW FOR HE15MAN!
"TEBOW FOR HE15MAN!"
Be honest, you have your Tebow underwear on now, don't you?
"Be honest, you have your Tebow underwear on now, don't you?"
He does.
And the front is a sticky gooey mess...
"You Gator's fans sure don't bother to read much, do you?:
Of course they don't. It's hard to read much when you're illiterate. They much prefer sitting in the wifebeater and jorts watching the TeeVees.
"Be honest, you have your Tebow underwear on now, don't you?"
awww, look!
a widdle gator fan has a crush on timmy.
umm, i'm pretty sure there were 10 other people on the field blocking for Tebow when he scored all those touchdowns by "himself".
remember all the TD's maurice jones-drew scored last year cause he always got the ball in the red zone last year? not happening this year, is it?
Tebow's stats are a product of the SYSTEM! Shit, anyone posting on this board could rush for 20 TD's behind all those big time recruits on the UF o-line if we got the ball EVERY TIME.
Puhllleeze....Adam, step away from Tebow's cock. Your death grip is going to suffocate it.
"jorts"
white gator hillybilly fans are crazy..JORTS? good lord. my gramma warned me a long time ago to stay out of gainesville. she say it's like heading back in a time machine. jorts? fa real?
Just a few quick additions.
Tebow averages more yards per game and per attempt, has less than half as many interceptions, has a higher completion percentage and a higher quarterback rating.
He does have less rushing yards, and a lower average per game and per attempt than LeFevour, but more touchdowns.
Tebow also faced all FBS competition, and his losses don't include one against an FCS team like North Dakota State. Tebow's opponents finished the season with a combined winning percentage of close to 60%. LeFevour's finished with close to 45%.
LeFevour is a tremendous athlete, but him winning the Heisman over Tebow is a bit of a stretch.
"Tebow also faced all FBS competition, and his losses don't include one against an FCS team like North Dakota State. Tebow's opponents finished the season with a combined winning percentage of close to 60%. LeFevour's finished with close to 45%. "
So, you agree that Tebow is surrounded by better talent and isn't a one man team, like LeFevour? cool
"So, you agree that Tebow is surrounded by better talent and isn't a one man team, like LeFevour?"
Actually, that shows that Tebow played tougher opponents, and put up comparable, if not better, stats.
And you can't really rely on the LeFevour is a "one man team" argument, then tout that he was complimented by a running back that rushed for almost 650yds and 10 touchdowns.
Tebow's a real good college qb. But let's face it, 'most outstanding'?
Yes, he basically his teams offense. But does that make him the most outstanding player? His longest TD run was 25 yards. The bulk of his rushing TD's were short yardage. His coaches system used him like a fullback. That isn't particularly 'outstanding'.
Tebow really showed that he could pass the ball this year. But, while his accuracy was top notch, his production was outshined by a several other high producing QB's.
The final rushing TD numbers were impressive. But how he got them was far from 'outstanding'.
I know...I know....go ahead Gator fans...we know you can't handle the truth or objectivity.
The kid was real good but he wasn't near the 'most outstanding' QB in the country, let alone the 'most outstanding' player.
"Actually, that shows that Tebow played tougher opponents, and put up comparable, if not better, stats.'
actually, it shows that Tebow was surrounded by better players that took the pressure off him and supported his production way better than the other guy's.
"Tebow also faced all FBS competition, and his losses don't include one against an FCS team like North Dakota State. "
You're right, UF's non-conference schedule of Western Kentucky, Troy and Florida Atlantic was AWESOME. And their marquis matchup of shell of their former program Florida St really rounded out the schedule.
Take away that cupcake non conference schedule, and the mighty Tebow led Gators were 5-3. With wins over Ole Miss, S. Carolina, Vandy, Kentucky and Tennessee.
BIG WHOOP!
They beat NO ONE that mattered on the national scene. Played a complete cream puff non conference schedule. And lost to the only two top flight teams they played.
The reality is, the Gators were a MAC conference caliber team playing in the SEC.
"You're right, UF's non-conference schedule of Western Kentucky, Troy and Florida Atlantic was AWESOME."
HAHA...the cat is gonna knock Central Michigan's schedule when FLorida's looked like THAT? HAHAHA
UF fans live on a different planet, don't they?
"actually, it shows that Tebow was surrounded by better players that took the pressure off him and supported his production way better than the other guy's."
How so? What I posted was the cumulative winning percentage of the opponents that Tebow faced. How many games his opponents won have no bearing on how good his surrounding players were.
"The final rushing TD numbers were impressive. But how he got them was far from 'outstanding'".
For the record, 16 of Tebow's 22 rushing touchdowns came from 5 yards or less. For comparison, 11 of LeFevour's 17 came from that same distance.
"BIG WHOOP!
They beat NO ONE that mattered on the national scene. Played a complete cream puff non conference schedule. And lost to the only two top flight teams they played."
Did CMU beat anyone that mattered on the "national scene"? No. In fact, I'm pretty sure that they didn't play any team all season that was ranked at the time they faced them, and they lost to an FCS team.
"How many games his opponents won have no bearing on how good his surrounding players were."
We know. It has bearing on the competition he faced. As 'Mixon' stated "Take away that cupcake non conference schedule, and the mighty Tebow led Gators were 5-3. With wins over Ole Miss, S. Carolina, Vandy, Kentucky and Tennessee."
Vince Young had 3,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing oh maybe two years ago. In case you forgot, he actually won the NCAA title that year, and still did not win the Heisman.
Good work with the research though
Thanks for pointing this guy out because I'd never heard of him. Since you are comparing stats, lets look at them properly. You do have to take out the last game because it skews the comparison regardless of the fact that the Gators could have played in the SEC champiohship game they didn't and that is one less game. So the numbers then read like this:
Tebow
3,132 yds passing
68.5% completion rate
9.8ypa
29tds
6ints
838 yds rushing
22tds
Lefevour
3,175 yds passing
68% completion rate
6.6ypa
23tds
13ints
838 yards rushing
15tds
pretty similar but Tebow still accounts for more TD's and less picks, so is more efficient. And I think your claim that Lefevour has a running back, implying that Tebow doesn't have anyone else to go to offense is dubious at best. He's got the best receivers in the league and Percy Harvin. He had to do more because Meyer didn't trust any of the running backs. That will change next year as Emmanuel Moody is able to play.
I'm damn impressed with this guy actually. But lets be honest he didn't play the toughest schedule and you can't discount that. Lets take a look at his performance against the best competition he faced all year then.
Kansas: 51%comp, 172 passing, 1td, 26 rushing
Clemson: 58% 204/31, 2tds
Didn't exactly light them up and neither of those teams have stout defenses.
Nice try but any rational person, who isn't a die hard fan of Central Michigan wouldn't agree with you. Lefevour is real good though.
"How so? What I posted was the cumulative winning percentage of the opponents that Tebow faced. How many games his opponents won have no bearing on how good his surrounding players were."
I noticed that you avoided UF's sorry non-conference schedule and mediocre conference record.
CMU beat no one. And UF beat no one.
Fair enough?
"Good work with the research though"
Sir, did we not CLEARLY state that we weren't bothering to check it out in this case? And that we would be happy if someone provided the information??????
Sweet avenger, some of you people really can't read, can you????
No offense there, ben, but you are the very definition of an asshole.
"implying that Tebow doesn't have anyone else to go to offense is dubious at best"
Sir, fair enough.
"He had to do more because Meyer didn't trust any of the running backs."
Ummm, but wasn't it dubious of us to suggest that they had NO running game? How is Meyer not trusting his running backs any different than us saying UF had no running backs, other than sounding like UF fan sugar coating?
"That will change next year as Emmanuel Moody is able to play."
Then, next year, we will come back and edit this post.

Funny coming from the man who single-handedly brought passed-out-dunk-chicken-finger style into the mainstream.
hold on. i reread and reread the post. is LeFevour an octaroon or something? Cause if not, this would be the very first time NOIS didn't come up with a half baked racial protest masquerading as a sports post!
SIR!!! I would never normally overstep my boundaries here, but I must whole-heartedly say that I, sir, am very disappointed in your selection of LeFevour over our brother Kevin Smith of THE University of Central Florida. I will count this one as a mistake, but I expect the future to be error-free.
SIMPLE QUESTION:
If PAT WHITE ran the UF offense (with no Slaton), how many rushing TDs would he have?
over/under = 30 rushing
Tebow = SYSTEM all the way.
What will be interesting to see in a couple years is who will be pressured into drafting him in the top 5...
Here's my problem with Tebow. if he wins it, he will be the first sophomore to do that. In my opinion, that means that he would be the greatest college football player in history according to the committee. I would beg to differ that Tebow is the bestest ever. Coupled with the fact that Tebow is WHITE. What's wrong with McFadden?
Poor, forgotten Dennis Dixon.
"Poor, forgotten Dennis Dixon."
Sir, agreed.
But we shall never forget his coach's decision to allow Dixon to destroy his season.
Never.
But we shall never forget his coach's decision to allow Dixon to destroy his season.
Perhaps Brother Dixon will have Coach Belotti's name etched onto the fascia of his repaired knee ligaments, to represent the subtle brand of slavery that is utilized to keep the Bowl Division money-machine profitable.
NOIS, earlier you wrote about how Pat White should be considered for the Heisman over Tebow partially because Tebow was the QB for Florida during 3 losses and White had won every game he'd played in except for one that he was injured in. Unfortunately White tarnished his bid for the Heisman with a loss to Pitt.
I would tend to agree that LeFevour is no big deal, and consequently that Tebow is no big deal. That's why I believe the media should turn it's attention to a young man who is 11 - 0 as starter at QB. He threw for over 4000 yards in only 11 games, and he went undefeated in the process. This man's name is Colt Brennan.
Surely we can all agree that his performance outshines Tebow's, LeFevour's and White's. The only other young man that could be considered for the Heisman in my mind is Darren McFadden. It becomes a completely different comparison at that point, though.
I wish I could come into the comments section and see more sensible discussion of the sort that this blog provides, and less senseless trolling for hateful responses.
"I wish I could come into the comments section and see more sensible discussion of the sort that this blog provides, and less senseless trolling for hateful responses."
screw you, troll.
"That's why I believe the media should turn it's attention to a young man who is 11 - 0 as starter at QB. He threw for over 4000 yards in only 11 games, and he went undefeated in the process. This man's name is Colt Brennan."
Sir, the media has so thoroughly contaminated voters and fans against Brennan (the schedule), that it would seem impossible for him to win.
While we have called T-bow a 'system' QB, we have done so in an effort to afford his support the chance to dispute it...and in doing so, they provide the very argument that can be used to effectively refute Brennan being a system QB.
Clearly, this is one of those years that no one player truly has outshined the rest (just as no two teams have truly outshined the rest)...it's been a season of parity and odd occurances. So, at this point, nothing will surprise us.
Much has been made of Florida's being in the SEC meaning that T-bow faced stiffer competition. But the reality of Florida's performance doesn't show that...Their out of conference schedule was down right pitiful. And, the only victory over a team of consequence in the SEC (Tennessee) was not that huge a win...as Tennessee wasn't a player on the national scene. Argue all you want, Vols, but you weren't! So Florida can huff and puff all they want. They lost to 3 of the 4 good teams on their schedule.
Tebow is a fine player, but he simply isn't the most outstanding player in the country. Regardless of all the TD's.
"screw you, troll."
Delightful.
Four days without a post, c'mon fellas, the snarky flame community depends on you!
WTH, is it Ramadan already?
"Delightful."
thought you'd like that, fag.
"Four days without a post, c'mon fellas, the snarky flame community depends on you!"
Sir, every now and again, 'the man' demands that we pay attention to the 9 to 5. Whip crackin' m-fer that he is...
Stat comparisons are for the lazy. Have you watched Tebow play? His accuracy as a quarterback is among the best, his decision making and improvisation in the position are a joy to watch, and, when he's not evading tackles, he's carrying three people on his bruised shoulder towards the endzone. He deserved the Heisman he's won.
And if watching sports makes me gay, I shudder to think what that makes someone who blogs about them.
"And if watching sports makes me gay,"
Where did this come from? A little unresolved issue there bruh? A Freudian slip? Something you want to get off your chest? We're good listeners.
Truth, when people above praised Tebow too much, the posters were often, although likely light-heartedly, called gay in response.
My writing of "And if watching sports makes me gay..." was a tongue-in-cheek (gay!) sentence to head off such responses.
But enough of this distraction, who thinks the Jets are going to be the only team to slay the Patriots this season?
"And if watching sports makes me gay, I shudder to think what that makes someone who blogs about them."
Sir, what exactly are you referencing here? We don't recall saying watching sports makes you gay.
And if stat comparisons are for the lazy...what is a lecture on aesthetics? Telling everyone else what they should see when they see Tebow?
We've watched hundreds of games this year, including Tebow, and have seen QBs' (ie, Dixon) who's on field presence, competitiveness and ability to actually lead their team to the top of the rankings out did Tebow.
Sorry, your Gatorish infatuation with Tebow precludes YOU from seeing what others have done. We have no emotional commitment. And we see the truth.
Media creation.
That's all this was.
"Media creation.
That's all this was."
IF the media created 51 TDs, maybe the dolphins should hire Andy Rooney to QB!
"IF the media created 51 TDs, maybe the dolphins should hire Andy Rooney to QB!"
Sir, we said 'media'...not dusty old white man....oh, wait!!!!
Okay, let's look at the facts:
*Tebow accounted for more touchdowns (51, 22 rushing with 0 fumbles, 29 passing, with only 6 interceptions) than any other candidate, including the CMU player
*He has the highest QB rating of ANY QB to win the Heisman
*He has more rushing touchdowns than any running back who won the Heisman (in a single season, of course)
*He plays in a conference with some tough defenses and plays injured (went up against Georgia -a loss- with a hurt right shoulder and played most of the second half against FSU with a broken right hand)
So, please tell me why he shouldn't have won the Heisman (without using race or religion as an excuse) and I will try to debate with you.
Fatty,
Last week's news, bubba.
Let it go.
Try to focus.
"So, please tell me why he shouldn't have won the Heisman (without using race or religion as an excuse) and I will try to debate with you."
Sir, you are a Gator fan.
Therefore, we can't have a reasonable debate.
You people don't use reason or logic. You rely on your bias.
IE, the notion you are a traditional football power. You guys were a JOKE before Spurrier turned it into something.
A joke.
And...and this is amazing...YOU had to steal DUKE's coach to make it happen.
Think about it.
Really? "Stealing Duke's coach"? That's the best you can come up with? Spurrier was WAITING for the head coaching job to open up. And yeah, we didn't have many good years before then and I admit that but we've really developed ourselves within the past twenty years, even a fool can see that!
Yes, I am a Gator fan but I'm a rational one. I will listen to your argument and see if it holds water. So far, none of the facts you have posted have shown me that one person deserved the Heisman more than Tebow.
Now, did I ever say we were a traditional football power or are you trying to present an opinion rather than a fact (as usual for you, really)? If you want an honest debate without bias, I will talk but if you are as irrational as you claim Gator fans to be, then get the F off of reporting on our team.
You know, I just read through every post on this comment sheet and I have to say, some of you guys are racist. Yeah, it doesn't just flow from white to black. Everyone has a little bit of racist in them but, by God, you guys really are ignorant.
"Coupled with the fact that Tebow is WHITE." -two dogs
Well, I don't see anywhere on the Heisman criteria that a player has to be black or Latino or Asian or white or whatever. You're ignorant, you little biotch.
I don't get offended easilly but this "sportsblog" really does me in. Man, you guys need to find work instead of finding ways to blame white people for everything (including your laziness!). Any by "your", I'm referring to the racist people on this blog, not any whole group of people in particular.
"Yes, I am a Gator fan but I'm a rational one."
Sir, this is a mutually exclusive proposition.
"I will listen to your argument and see if it holds water."
Seriously?
When your entire basis for Tbow winning the Heisman is he scored more touchdowns than the other guys?
Seriously, you are going to 'judge' a rational debate on the Heisman???
Really now. You are a Tbow jocksniffer who would just as much prefer to massage his balls with your serpentlike forked white man's tongue as you would breath.
If Tbow wasn't a Gator, you wouldn't even deem him worthy of the trip to NYC as finalist.
Now, go scrape that Gator goo of your Jorts....premature self ejaculation over Tbow is creepy.
Oh damn!
That's gonna leave a bruise.
A preemptive strike!
Gator boy should just slither back to the swamp.
Quite possibly the worst logic ever used on a blog. Didn't read all the comments and don't think I'll ever find this little site again but I had to chime in.
You contradict yourself through this whole post. You say that Tebow is in the SEC and therefore surrounded by blue chip athletes who ensure that the opposition can't disregard the rest of the team. You then go on to state that Lefevour does not have that luxury, he is a one man wrecking crew.
But a few paragraphs up you say that although Tebow scored more touchdowns, Lefevour played on a team that actually had other players score touchdowns. You even say that he only accounted for 50% of his team's rushing touchdowns and that CMU had a running back with double digit touchdowns.
Now, I'm confused. If Tebow is a majority of his team's offense and scoring and Lefevour has all these other folks who share the load, how is Tebow surrounded by all these blue chippers that have to be game planned against but Lefevour is a one man wrecking crew?
Didn't you just prove the opposite?
Ridiculous.
