Marcus Vick: Labelled Unfairly

Former college and professional athlete, Marcus Vick, recently was coerced into a guilty plea for his involvement in being a Negro QB.

He is the target of the Norfolk Commonwealth Attorney's collaborative effort with the state of Virginia (and the Federal Govt.) to rid the state of Negro QB's. This effort is well document in the state and federal joint task force that previously was assigned to gain a conviction of another Negro QB from the state of Virginia. (We urge Jason Campbell to walk on egg shells, if not water!)

What is perhaps most detestable about this latest development is not that another Negro QB is being robbed of his chance at greatness, but that almost every wire and account of this most recent 'conviction' labels Marcus Vick as 'Former Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick'.

Certainly, there is truth in the statement. Mr. Vick is a former VT QB. However, due to the fact that the mainstream media continually tries to link Vick with the school and its football program; we believe it is a purposeful attempt to negatively reflect on Mr. Vick.

Virginia Tech is most famous for two things:

1) A lax football program which has produced more than one habitually poorly behaved QB
2) A most tragic murder spree perpetrated by a mentally unbalanced Virginia Tech student

Attaching the 'Former Virginia Tech quarterback' label to Vick is a sinister effort to negatively link Vick to these two negative things for which VT is most notorious.

Isn't it time we let Mr. Vick simply live his life as Marcus Vick, rather than attempt to shackle and enslave him to the negative connotations that go along with being a 'Former Virginia Tech quarterback'?

Vick was simply a student-athlete at the school, he didn't run the programs which provided the environment to produce all the negative things that go along with the programs.

Marcus Vick has been through enough. It's hard enough being the younger brother of a Negro QB so visible that he is the target of a high level government sting and thoroughly unusual federal prosecution.

Why must the media continually try to sully his reputation and image further by constantly bringing up his connection to VT?

Marcus Vick is also a son and a brother. And probably a father. But when do we see him labelled by the mainstream media as 'son, brother and possible father Marcus Vick'?

We don't.

We only see the negative.

Vote Obama.

Yes, we can change.

Oddly, I fail to see the racism here or the anti-VT bias. I think that the people that have reported this are just out to get the Vicks family. Clearly this is just another in the long line of "Get OJ" stories that have cropped up since The Juice slit those people's throats. Wait, The Juice is black, too. Nevermind.

Simpson was acquitted!!!!

It is similarly unfortunate that outstanding Negro athletes and coaches like Bros. Jones, Owens, Johnson (x 2), Lewis, Henry et al. have been prejudiced by their association with lawless, immoral, "real American" organizations such as the Cowboys and Bengals. Gotcha journalism, indeed.

and now they are also making Michael plea in the state of virginia...this is a joke...when is obama taking office so he pardon him and end this charade!

I certainly realize that The Juice was aquitted. However, when sued in civil court, he lost, and then when tried for his armed robbery, he was convicted. If he would have simply pled guilty to killing his victims in LA, he would have already been out of prison. Hell the jury there found him not guilty, do you think that the judge would have given him more than a couple of years if he pled out? And he would have still had his stuff, too.

So, he got off on the one crime that could have kept him rich and playing golf, while getting robbed in civil court and convicted for a crime to get some of his stuff back. OJ was stupid, he should have 'fessed to the killings.

OJ had too much pride.

It was downfall, not playing the game and 'fessing to something he didn't do.

Damned pride and honor.

Gets ya everytime.

Wait, Tripod, are you actually saying that OJ didn't kill Nichole and Goldman?

Sir,

1) Trying to alter the public's perception of Marcus Vick by continually attaching the negative baggage of an institution such as VT to him is nothing to kid about.

2) Mister Cho was a sick young man. Making jokes of comparison is in the poorest taste.

3)The President signs bills/laws and also asks Congress to push them through.

4)We take responsibility for trying to shed darkness unto the light that bathes you in ignorance.

5)What exactly was Mr. Vick convicted of?

Yea.

And the jury said he didn't either.

Sir, let's not turn this into a chicken or the egg argument.

IT's clear that VT's tarnished image in turn tarnished Vick's image.

Crystal!

In the same vein as the Cowboys image tarnished Righteous Negro Pacmans image. Pure brilliance as usual Sirs.

Sir, The Cowboys of the 90's created the Negative image in Dallas. 'The White House'.

Clearly, Dallas' reputation has been commuted to the previously rehabilitated Adam Jones.

Unfair, yes.

Unexpected, no.

Look no further than Half-Brother Obama being drug through the Mud because a college professor he associated with had a unique history.

Somehow, that professor's history was commuted to Half-Brother Obama.

It's sinister.

But expected.

Things are looking up in Atlanta these days, eh?

Mike Vick should get a job with some team when he gets out of jail, he's prob still got a couple decent years of mediocrity left in him. Atlanta certainly don't need him anymore.

Marcus Vick is a scrub (yawn) and who cares if he is referred to as a former Va. Tech QB?? He WAS!!!!

Since when is stating one's alma mater being racially biased?!?!? Would you rather he be designated as "NFL failiure", NOIS?
