Not much change at the Top our National rankings this week.
However, in the second half of the list, Arizona and Oregon State fell out due to the rise of Cincinnati and Vanderbilt.
10: Cincinnati: With the falls of USF and Connecticut this week, we project the Bearcats to be the newest Beasts of the Big East. A big time win over tradition rich Marshall vaulted the 'Cats into the Top 10.
9: Ohio State: The Buckeyes toughed out a win at Wisconsin. Despite continuing to win, the Buckeyes, except for Terrelle Pryor, just have not been overly impressive.
8: Georgia Tech: The Jackets dropped a spot, despite shutting out Duke. Only scoring 27 on the Blue White Devils just doesn't cut it in this poll.
7: Vanderbilt: The Commodores make their first ever appearance in the rankings. A hard fought win over Auburn delivered them into the top 10. However, the rest of the season probably hinges on the health of tremendous Negro QB Chris Nickson.
6: Illinois: As we stated last week; Juice Williams is the prototypical Negro QB and therefore the Fighting Zook's are a threat to win every game they play. Williams rang up 431 total yards as the Illini smoked Meechigan in the Big House.
5: Ball State: If the Cards had a white QB, you could bet that they would be being hailed as the biggest threat to be BCS busters. But, that notoriety goes to the team from the pearly white BYU campus. Nate Davis and crew crushed always game Toledo, 31-0.
4: USC: Big rebound blowout win over Oregon. And huge day for non-white Mark Sanchez. Look for the Trojans to drub Arizona State this week as they claw their way back to the top.
3- Virginia Tech: Hokies beat Western Kentucky, but lost running back Kenny Lewis, Jr. However, Negro QB Tyrod Taylor remains healthy, and that spells trouble this week for Boston College.
2- Penn State: Joe Paterno continues to coach from the booth. And the Lions continue to win. There has to be a correlation there. The speedy, accurate and savvy Darryl Clark will be challenged by a physical Wisconsin team this week.
1- Oklahoma: A blowout tune-up win over Baylor primes the Sam Bradford led Sooners as they prepare for the Red River Rivalry against Texas. Interestingly enough, Texas coach Mack Brown won his only National Championship due to the incredible abilities of a non-white QB. Look for OU to win this.

NC&QB Rankings: A Wild Week At The Top
Another exciting week of college football and a few upsets certainly changed the landscape of the most accurate ranking system in the Nation.
The most exciting game of the week was North Carolina against Miami. In a back and forth battle that came down to the wire, the Tar Heels were able to hold on for the victory; upping their record to 3-1. Randy Shannon's squad played a good game, but Butch Davis has the 'Heels on the upward swing.
Dropping from the poll was ECU.
10 Oregon State: Talented and resilient non-caucasian QB Lyle Moevao provided the cool and calm to lead the Beavers in what is becoming and annual tradition: a home win over USC.
9 Arizona: Polynesian Sensation Willie Tuitama and his troops had the week to rest up for a big PAC 10 showdown with Ty Willingham.
8 Ohio State: Terrelle Pryor continues to impress, while the rest of Tressel's Bucks continue to look lackluster. Pryor ran for two scores and threw for two as well. Any hopes the Bucks have of winning the Big 10 rest squarely on the arm and legs of Pryor. A late October meeting with #2 Penn State will most likely settle the Big 10. Unless, Juice Williams can get Illinois going again.
7 Georgia Tech: A week off to rest up for resurgent Duke.
6- Illinois: Some will question this high ranking after a loss to Penn State. What can't be questioned is that Juice Williams has proven he is the prototype N-QB; and that alone makes Illinois a danger to win every time they step on the field.
5- Ball State: The Ballers continue their quest for perfection. With the meat of their schedule behind them (and having gone undefeated against the Big 10), look for the Cards to run roughshod over the slew of directional schools remaining on the schedule. The only thing standing between BSU and crashing the BCS...is the possibility of the computer rankings robbing them of a shot. Hard to believe we live in a country that is on the verge of electing a Negro president; yet we generate computer rankings that won't reward a talented Negro QB. Yes, we can change!
4- USC: What can one say? Clearly, Pete Carroll lost his focus and didn't have his troops ready. Non-white QB Matt Sanchez did all he could; unfortunately Carroll's shortcomings cost the team a shot at the big prize
3- VA Tech: The Hokies have quietly climbed back towards the top after that opening loss to ECU. And, they have done it over near top-notch competition: GA Tech, UNC and Nebraska. UNC and Nebraska on the road. Frank Beamer has to be kicking himself for starting the year off with Tyrod Taylor as a redshirt. If only.....
2- Penn State: While Joe Paterno takes afternoon naps and subsists on Geritol; N-QB Darryl Clark has the Lions in the hunt for the glass football. We just hope no one wakes Paterno up at this point.
1- Oklahoma: After taking down a strong TCU squad, Sam Bradford and the Sooners can write their own destiny. If the Native QB can stay healthy and allow Mike Stoops to not have to resort to bringing in an Anglo QB....these Sooners can win the national title. If they go undefeated.

NC&QB Rankings: Shake Up
In our bi-weekly rankings system, we saw some remarkable movement.
Indiana, West Virginia and Oregon fell out of the rankings.
Penn State, Ohio State and Virginia Tech moved in.
And Miami served notice (beating down free falling TAMU) that it is next in line should one of the top 10 falter.
10- Arizona (3-1): The 'Cats suffered an upset loss to New Mexico, but came back in true non-white QB fashion with a big win over UCLA this past weekend. Willie Tuitama, of non-Northern European descent, threw 2 TD's and no INT's against the Bruins.
9- East Carolina (3-1): The Pirates BCS hopes became tenuous after a close call with Tulane; and then shattered after falling to talent poor NC State. With Houston, Virginia, Memphis and UCF on the immediate schedule, the Pirates are poised to climb back up should the teams above them falter.
8- Ohio State (3-1): After the blowout loss to NCQB #1 USC, the Buckeyes made the only logical move they could to save their season: They turned to Negro QB Terrelle Pryor. Pryor threw 4 TD's and rushed for 66 yards as the Bucks began the long journey back down the road to respectability. Many say that Coach Tressel's conservative nature is a fault. But, in this case, returning his team to the lead of a Negro QB seems to be the only option to get back to the success his team previously enjoyed.
7- Illinois (2-1): The Fighting Zooks dropped a few spots during and idle week. Their previous unimpressive victory over one of the many doormat University of Louisiana teams did not help them. However, Juice Williams will have a chance to move his squad back up to the top 5 when Illinois travels to newly ranked Penn State next Saturday in the marquis match up of the weekend.
6- Ball State (4-0): The Ballers are the best team in the Big Ten region. Hands down. A three touchdown victory over previously #10 Indiana certainly shored up many of the questions about this squad. Heisman-eligible QB Nate Davis is throwing at over a 72% completion rate and over 10 yards per attempt. Add in his 10 TD completions, and you can clearly see why we are touting him as the Heisman front runner to this point.
5- Georgia Tech (3-1): The Wramblin' Wreck is slowly putting together a season to remember. Only a close loss to #4 VA Tech separates the Jackets from an undefeated record. Unfortunately, tremendous non-drop-back-passer QB Josh Nesbitt was injured in the victory over Mississippi State. Coach Paul Johnson's choice of Jaybo Shaw, rather than Calvin Booker, as his replacement could have future implications on Tech's rankings.
4- Virginia Tech (3-1): The Hokies continue to march on after the opening day loss to ECU. In perhaps the best coaching tactics we've seen from Frank Beamer, Tyrod Tayler was pulled back from what was to be a redshirt season, and now seems to be the go to player for the Hokies. Taylor engineered a stunning come from behind victory to knock off previous ACC Coastal Division front runner North Carolina.
3- Penn State (4-0): Despite being trapped in the petrified forest that is Joe Paterno's offense, NQB Daryll Clark continues to shine as the Lions have steam rolled through the first third of their schedule. A showdown with Heisman hopeful Juice Williams in Happy Valley next weekend looms as a make or break game for both teams.
2- Oklahoma (3-0): After hanging half a hundred for the third time this season, the Sooners enjoyed an off week to prep for TCU. Sam Bradford has been the model of efficiency. His work is single-handedly making most question the notion that drop back passing is the realm of the white QB.
1- USC (2-0) The Trojans hit the field this week with revenge on their minds against Oregon State. With no legit contenders left on their schedule, look for Mark Sanchez and the Men of Troy to put up some big numbers week after week as they defend their ranking and work to win the BCS formula battle.

Negro Coach and QB Poll: Expanded
We have been on a European sabbatical, priming the alabaster enclaves of Northern Europe for eventual take over by the soon to be new Leader of the Free World (using the term 'free' in the most loose fitting manner possible).
Our return coincides with two completed weeks of college football. Which, in turn, requires the first edition of our vaunted Negro Coach and QB Poll (NCQB). Certainly, those who followed the rankings last year saw us spot on with LSU riding the top of the wave for most of the season.
In an effort to be more inclusive and more diverse, we have decided that it is in the best interest of everyone to expand the teams eligible for the rankings.
In that light, we will now include the full constituency of our soon to be President (Halfrican-American Barry Obama).
The poll will still be called the Negro Coach and QB Poll, in honor of all those who fought so valiantly for the right to be included in our rankings last season. Only this time, all NCCA D1 teams will be eligible to receive votes.
All teams, that is, that have either a Negro Coach or QB, Latino coach or QB or a non-white coach or QB.
Change you can believe in!
10 Ball State -The Ballers are 2-0 with convincing wins over Northeastern and Navy. Tremendously gifted QB, Nate Davis, has completed 80% of his passes for 7 TDs and is averaging over 300 yards per game. If the Cardinals can get past Akron in their next game, that will set up a showdown with #9 Indiana in two weekends.
9 Indiana - The Hoosiers are sitting pretty at the top of the Big Ten with blowouts over Murray State and Western Kentucky. Dual threat QB Kellen Lewis has thrown for 2 TDs and rushed for 2 TDs. He is also averaging over 18 yards per rush. Tim who? Next up for IU will be the chance to be fully vetted in a showdown with #10 Ball State...and then on to the Big Ten schedule!
8 Arizona - Willie Tuitama has completed 77% of his passes for almost 500 yards and 0 interceptions. A 70-0 victory of Idaho proves that these Wildcats are back in full force! Next up, a border state showdown with New Mexico.
7 Georgia Tech - QB Josh Nesbitt has rushed for 3 TDs and his leadership has lead to an undefeated start and sole possession of first in the ACC's hotly contested Coastal Division. Up next is a vulnerable looking Virginia Tech.
6 West Virginia - After a sharp performance against always stout Villanova, WVU ran into possibly the best defensive squad in the country. And came out the worse for the wear. Despite the loss, Pat White has completed 70% of his passes for 5 TDs. He is also averaging 80 yards rushing per game. We believe the 'Eers are better than they showed against a supremely motivated and confident ECU squad, and will give them the chance to prove it against Colorado before we significantly drop them in the rankings.
5 Illinois - Another one loss squad in the top 10. But, the barn burner against Missouri could have gone either way and this early in the season should not weigh heavily against Juice Williams and his Illini. Williams has thrown for 6 TDs and has a lofty 152.4 QB rating. Add to that over 90 rushing yards per game and 2 rushing TDs....and you have to ask yourself: Why is anyone paying attention to Tim Tebow?
4 Oregon - Projected started Nate Costa is out for the season. But, in the newer, inclusiver NCQB Poll, that still qualifies the Ducks to be ranked. Wins over Washington and Utah State have eased the learning curve for the QB who is replacing all time great Dennis Dixon. We will learn more about the Ducks in the next two weeks in games against Purdue and Boise State.
3 East Carolina - Patrick Pinkney has completed 80% of his passes and accumulated an ultra-impressive 167 QB rating after two huge victories. Non-conference games against ACC regional powers NC State and Virginia are still to come. Victories in those tilts coupled with a manageable C-USA schedule could set the Pirates up for some BCS action.
2 Oklahoma - Sam Bradford continues to lead one of the most potent attacks in the Nation. The Sooners have the defense to be in this thing to the end. With the Texas game being at a neutral site, the Sooners get all the rest of their big games at home.
1 USC - The Trojans seem fully re-loaded with Mark Sanchez at QB. With a 178 QB rating, Sanchez seems primed to continue the USC QB tradition. The prizefight with Ohio State this weekend will certainly be a test, but if the Trojans can get through, the rest of the schedule is manageable.

NC&QB Rankings: Negro Coach and QB Poll
This week, as we gloriously anticipated, the top team in the BCS's ridiculous version of things fell from the ranks of the unbeaten, opening the way for the teams that your NC&QB rankings have had at the top for several previous weeks.
The BCS and other polls will be jocking Kansas. Telling us how huge the pending top 5 match up between Kansas and Missouri is. Don't believe the hype. The game will have no effect on the BCS title. Kansas' non-conference schedule (Central Mich, SE Louisiana, Toledo, Florida International) should automatically disqualify them from any discussion. And their conference schedule included the dregs of possibly the weakest conference in the country. So, while we commend Kansas on their fine record, we simultaneously disparage them for being in the Big 12.
And for playing a schedule that the Top 15 teams in the US Today Super 25 High School Rankings could manhandle.
Congratulations to Juice Williams. Williams (as a reader pointed out to us) over came the horrendous coaching of Ron Zook (well, FL fans said he was terrible) and made the play call on that fourth and one which sealed the deal.
This weeks great 8:
8) Illinois: The Illini, led by potential '09 or '10 first pick of the draft Juice Williams, out hustled and out muscled the OSU to knock of the paper #1 Bucks. If the Illini can knock off Northwestern next week, and then win a bowl...they will secure a 10 win season. With a huge number of contributors coming back, and a great recruiting class coming in.....we fully anticipate Zook to get his walking papers and Illinois to bring in someone else to win a title. Karl Dorrell will probably be available.
7) Mississippi State: Consecutive wins over ranked teams have the Bulldogs at the Lucky Seven spot. An upset of Kentucky, followed with a resoundingly convincing and necessary victory over Alabama and their Plantation Boss, Nick Saban, have the Bulldogs on a righteous role. If Coach Sylvester Croom's team can take out Arkansas next week; we believe that that win, added to victories over 'Bama, Auburn and UK should be enough to secure coach of the year honors in the SEC for Croom. Some will say it should be Coach Brooks at UK. However, really...Brooks has Andre Woodson under center. Not a whole lot of 'coaching' going on there.
6)Kentucky: The 'Cats continued to show that they are among the best in the SEC with a win over Vandy. Dates with ranked teams from UGA and Tennessee could provide UK with a chance to move up the rankings.
5) Virginia Tech: The Hokies added to Bobby Bowden's misery by spanking his 'Noles. Seems that Bowden's inability to keep his confidence in Xavier Lee as his QB has ensured the FSU has no chance at a winning record in conference play.
4) Virginia: The Wahoos smashed Miami's farewell party in the OB, 48-0, upping their record to 9-2 (6-1). All that remains for UVA is a showdown with VA Tech. With UVA and Tech in the same division, and with them being the top two teams in the ACC, the match up will essentially be for the ACC crown.
3)West Virginia: The 'Eers showed some heart and held off a determined Louisville Cardinal squad. With games against Big East contenders Cincy and UCONN and the Backyard Brawl against Pitt remaining; WVU has a tough road to the Big East title.
2) LSU: The Bayou Bengals secured a big win over instate rival Louisiana Tech to secure the coveted Louisiana State Championship. The schedule raps up with Ole Miss and Arkansas. Then a trip to the SEC Title game. Arkansas and the Title Game certainly could pose threats to LSU, so we aren't going to endorse them just yet as being BCS title game bound. But certainly, they have the inside track.
1) Oregon: The Ducks continue to hold tight to numero uno. Not playing this week secured the position for them. The Quack Attack finishes up with Arizona, UCLA and Oregon State. A completely manageable schedule. Go ahead and book your trip to the BCS title game.

Upset Pick For the Weekend
This weekend, the NC&QB poll will take full effect. Our top teams (Oregon and LSU) will be the top teams in the other polls by the end of the weekend.
Therefore, we are confident that Juice Williams will lead the mighty Illinois Zooks over the OSU.
And, it won't be a nailbiter.

Long ago, we realized that the bias demonstrated within the college football rankings and polling systems didn't provide proper recognition for or acknowledge the demonstrated superiority of certain teams. Teams, that for political reasons, were not elevated to 'elite' status. And, therefore, didn't get the opportunity to generate the revenue that accompanies that status.
At the same time other teams that truly offer meager product on the field continue to reap the financial benefits of high profile coverage and are afforded votes in polls until the voters can no longer provide votes with any credibility and must stop voting for them. Notre Dame comes to mind.
In that light, we came up with the heralded NC&QB poll. A poll which has remained weeks ahead of the mainstream polls. Last season, we had Ohio St and Florida as our 1 and 2 from week 2 of the season on . The mainstreamers only arrived at the same conclusion at the end of the year. Again, not to hyper extend our elbows patting ourselves on our backs...but we are light years ahead of the mainstream media in virtually every capacity.
Our rankings this season will certainly be found to be the doctrine of truth by the time the season completes.
However, occasionally a team comes along that doesn't seem to fit into any of the polls. Ours included. And, being the righteous sports blog, we take it upon ourselves to investigate why.
The general myth perpetrated by the mainstream polls revolves around 'strength' of schedule. A team from a perceived lesser conference compiles an impressive record, and they are degraded for not playing USC, Oklahoma and LSU in their non-conference schedule.
At the same time, a school from a BCS conference might come along and compile an impressive record and get a high ranking. Yet that school might well be playing in a BCS conference that is not very good from top to bottom that year and might have played no one of substance in their non-conference schedule.
Yes, we are contrasting Hawaii and Boston College.
BC got all kinds of love with wins over..........well, no one that matters.
Hawaii gets no respect with wins over......... well, no one that matters.
Years ago, Lavell Edwards ran a program out in Utah that seemed to amass wins by the dozens each season. His BYU Cougars put up impressive year after impressive year. But, always fought the 'weak conference' categorization. Finally, after an undefeated season in which none of the big boy teams had comparable records, the pollsters had no choice but to vote the Cougars number one.
We would suggest that the bias against BYU for so long had nothing to do with scheduling. It had to do with the charter of the university. It had to do with a prejudicial electorate dead set against having a school run by the Church of Latter Day Saints being the flagship football program in the country. And finally, the day came when the polls could either continue to hold the Mormons back and lose all credibility, or allow that for that year BYU was the best team in the land. Common sense, for once in college football, prevailed.
And now, we see it again this season.
The white bread Catholic school boys from the palest section of the country (no, not ND.....BC!) haven't beaten anyone that matters. Playing in the horribly weak ACC, their non-conference schedule was composed of games against 1-AA UMASS, Army, Bowling Green, and the worst ND team of all time. Yet, BC rose to #2 as voters and the mainstream media pretended that this collection of second tier recruits were an actual threat to the teams at the top of the NC&QB Poll.
At the same time Hawaii was amassing victory after victory against admittedly weak opponents. Yet, while BC's schedule was never used against them as they rose up the rankings, any mention of Hawaii included words about the weak schedule.
Clearly, a concerted effort to ensure that the public and the voters constantly associated Hawaii with a weak schedule.
Last season, an undefeated team from the same conference as Hawaii was the voter and media darling. Boise State, located in a section of the county synonymous with Wonder Bread, received more manufactured love than is conceivable enroute to their opportunity for a shot at a BCS bowl.
Why is Hawaii not getting the backing of the media and love normally reserved for Cinderella?
Well, we can only identify one reason.
Look at the names on the Hawaii roster. Look at the fans attending the games there. There are a lot of Hawaiians.
Mainstream America loves Hawaiians when they are doing a hula dance or providing entertainment on a vacation to the islands; but to give them their due on the football field and risk losing the revenue that is normally reserved for the universities backed by the deep pocketed white boosters....it can't happen.
We had contemplated granting Hawaii a special exemption for inclusion in the NC&QB poll. Unfortunately, a review of the team showed that their QB is a convicted criminal.
Despite our desire to give the team a correct and fair rankings, we feel that bending the rules to allow a white, ex-con QB to be included in a poll dedicated to the propagation of the Negro student-athlete-good citizen QB would simply be too contradictory. It would degrade all that those included in the NC&QB Rankings have worked so hard to achieve.
So, while the major polls and voters will use the excuse of 'strength of schedule' to mask their bias against Hawaiians (as they did with the Mormons):
We at NOIS would be more than happy to include the Hawaiians in the NC&QB Rankings.
But we can't allow the inclusion of a white, convicted criminal QB. It tarnishes the poll.
However, be assured, we think the rest of the team is top notch!

NOIS Rankings: Negro Coach and QB Poll
Losses suffered by Illinois, K-State and Maryland made it difficult to find 10 worthy teams for the rankings this week. So, in a move meant to demonstrate our allegiance to performance and our distaste for ranking teams just to rank them (do you HEAR us Coaches Poll and AP Poll???), the NC&QB will be a Top 8 this week.
8. USF: The Bulls are in the rankings this week as part of our honoring their banning use of the 'n-word'. Despite the loss to Rutgers, the Bulls can still win the Big East.
7. Kentucky: After last week's emotional win over LSU, the 'Cats faced a tough and desperate Florida team that just proved a little too much this week. Many 'analysts' claim that UF QB Tim Tebow 'outperformed' UK's top QB in the nation Andre' Woodson; however, the statistics and film show otherwise. Woodson is proving his value and cementing his position as the top QB in the upcoming draft.
6. UCLA: Karl Dorrell's squad leaps back into the rankings with a sharp win over Cal. The Bruins continue to play to the level of their opponent, and with Washington State and Arizona up next, they need to end that practice if they stand any chance of surviving their final three weeks against Arizona State, Oregon and USC. This may well be a short lived ranking.
5. Virginia Tech: An off week for the Hokies. Next weekend brings Boston College to town. A VA Tech victory sets up a possible show down for ACC supremacy in a few weeks with UVA.
4. Virginia: The Wahoos continue their steady climb up the rankings with a huge 18-17 win over Maryland. A test against tough Wake Forrest is really all that is left on the schedule before the finale against VA Tech.
3. West Virginia: With USF losing to Rutgers, the Mountaineers are back in the Big East title picture. A tough game with Rutgers is on the card, but after the emotional and draining USF game, Rutgers will be hard pressed to stop the Mountaineers.
2. LSU: The Bayou Bengals got all they wanted from Auburn. A touchdown with one second left on the clock gave LSU the duke. The SEC is a mess this year, with team after team knocking each other off. It will be a tall task for LSU to go the distance without another loss and meet Oregon in the BCS title game.
1. Oregon: The Ducks' offense overwhelmed Ty Willingham's charges; rushing for over 400 yards. Oregon's offense has looked virtually unstoppable the past few weeks. Next up for the Ducks is USC.
NOIS Rankings: Negro Coach and QB Poll
With NC&QB #1 LSU and #2 Illinois both suffering upsets this week, the rankings reflect the shake up at the top of the college football world. (Although, the ESPNU All-State Fan Poll bumped Illinois to #1, despite their loss)
Additionally, clearly our voters bought into #7 Florida St.'s reemergence prematurely. The 'Noles loss to Wake Forrest dropped them out of the rankings this week.
#9 Indiana suffered the indignity of an upset loss to the inconsistent Michigan State Spartans, dropping the Hoosiers from the rankings.
The votes are in, and this weeks poll has a new consensus number one.
10. Illinois: The Illini lost to an underachieving and poorly coached Iowa team. Clearly, Ron Zook's team got caught up in the hype of their top 5 ranking last week. But, Zook's young charges certainly will learn from the experience.
9. Kansas St. : A win over Oklahoma killer Colorado has the 'Cats back in the Top 10. Up next: Okie State.
8. Maryland: The Terps bump up thanks to the upsets this week. And thanks to being inactive. Next up is a huge showdown with NC&QB top 10 Virginia.
7. Virginia Tech: A win over hapless Duke coupled with Virginia's huge victory this week ended up costing the Hokies in the polls. The chance to move up presents itself next week in the form of Boston College.
6. This week we honor the Jena 6 by holding this spot open in a symbolic and defiant demand that justice be served.
5. Virginia: The Wahoos get a lift this week thanks to a hard fought victory over former Big East leader and previously unbeaten Connecticut. UVA and Maryland are on a collision course for ACC supremacy.
4. West Virginia: The 'Eers got a week off and Pat White got a week to heal his tender body. With Sylvester Crooms hard hitting Bulldogs of Miss St on the agenda next, and the meat and potatoes of their Big East schedule to follow; White's health is the key to the remainder of the season.
3. Kentucky: Andre' Woodson came back from a mistake prone game against South Carolina to lead the 'Cats to a major victory. Next up is Florida.
2. LSU: Yes, they lost. But, they ran into the best QB in the nation on a special night. No other QB could have won that game. Chances are, we will still see LSU in the title game. A do or die game against Auburn is next.
1. Oregon: The Ducks, much like Ohio State in those other polls, benefited from #1 and #2 ahead of them being upset. However, unlike Ohio State, the Ducks weren't ranked highly to begin with by default. The Ducks better not be thinking about USC in two weeks and be ready Ty Willingham's Washington team next week.

NOIS Rankings: Negro Coach and QB Poll
Once again, we gave you the big upset of the week, Illinois knocking off top 5 Wisconsin. (yea, yea...we know USC losing to Stanford was THE big upset of the week...but NO ONE picked that one...)
On to the NC&QB Poll
10. Maryland: The Terps up it to 4-2 with a win over GA Tech.
9. Indiana: The Hoosiers, behind Negro QB Kellen Lewis make their NC&QB Poll debut this week with a big win over Minnesota. IU is now 5-1, with the blemish coming at the hands of No. 2 Illinois.
8. Virginia: The Wahoos improved to 5-1 and will get the chance to knock off unbeaten and unproven Connecticut next week.
7. Florida St.: The 'Noles crack the top 10 and seem to be finding their stride behind talented Negro QB Xavier Lee.
6. Kentucky: Tough loss to South Carolina knocked the 'Cats from the ranks of the unbeaten. Andre' Woodson didn't have his best game as turnovers proved to be UK's undoing.
5. Virginia Tech: The Hokies finally showed some scoring ability in blowing out Clemson. Will get the chance to take the big stage again in two weeks in an ACC showdown with Boston College.
4. West Virginia: Still righting the ship after the big loss to USF.
3. Oregon: A bye week to recover from the damaging loss to Cal.
2. Illinois: The Illini make their debut in the poll. Two straight wins over Top 25 teams for the Illini has their Nov. 10 showdown with Ohio St. looking like it will be for all the marbles in the Big Ten.
1. LSU: The Tigers reached deep down and found the intestinal fortitude to hold off Florida, further cementing their status as the top NC&QB team.

LSU Jumps USC
In an unusual occurrence (hadn't happened since '02), the #2 team in the AP poll jumped the #1 team after victories for both.
Clearly, if you checked this season's inaugural NC&QB Poll, you would have noticed that we had LSU ranked #1.
We congratulate the AP for aligning themselves (albeit a week late) with the NC&QB Poll and encourage voters of the USA Today poll to open their minds and understand that voting a team #1 does not lock them into retaining that team at #1 if they are being clearly outperformed.
USA Today voters are invited to check back here for Tuesday's release of the NC&QB poll and use it as a reference for their own voting.

NOIS Rankings: Negro Coach and QB Poll
Unlike the major polls, we feel it is prudent to wait at least until a portion of the season is played to gauge the abilities of college football teams.
This is our first ranking of the 2007 college football season.
This is truly the definitive ranking/polling system as there is no politics or politicking involved.
Some key elements of this poll:
-team must have a Negro Head coach; or
-team must be led by a Negro QB (or have one who gets significant playing time/makes significant contributions)
Please pause before you levy misplaced criticism in efforts to disparage or devalue our rankings. If you remember last season, there was great debate about #2 and who got to play Ohio St. for the title. While the other polls were in disarray and while coaches politicked for more votes; the NC&QB poll had it right from the start of the season!
Top Ten
10) Mississippi State (3-1) Sylvester Croom coached his Bulldogs to an upset of Auburn this season, and other than a defeat at the hands of a talented LSU team, the Bulldogs have exceeded expectations.
9) Washington (2-2) Ty Willingham has his team competing hard and showing a promising future. His tutelage of Jake Locker and imparting the ability to function as a virtual Negro QB has been the difference for the Huskies this season.
8) Virginia (3-1) After a tough opening loss, the Wahoos are on nice roll behind tremendous QB talent Jameel Sewell, who has used his Negro QBing ability to overcome the suspect coaching of Al Groh.
7) Miami (3-1) Sure, the 'Canes took one on the chin from OU, but Randy Shannon is quietly bringing the swagger back in Coral Gables. More victories -and arrests- are imminent.
6) UCLA (3-1) Karl Dorrell's squad rebounded nicely after not showing up for the Utah game. This team is threat to go undefeated in the PAC 10. They got their bad game out of their system and are ready to reclaim LA as their town.
5) VA Tech (3-1) Another team on the list that suffered at the hands of LSU. And losing to LSU is proving to be no disgrace this season. Tyrod Taylor is beginning to blossom.
4) Kentucky (4-0) Heisman Trophy front runner Andre' Woodson so far has been able to compensate for a weak defense and the general lack of talent brought in by coach Rich Brooks. Challenges abound for this team, but Woodson has shown that his indomitable will can win out.
3) Oregon (4-0) The only legit challenger to Woodson in the Heisman race has led an explosive offense that very well could challenge UCLA (or, if things break right for them...USC) for PAC-10 supremacy.
2) West Virginia (4-0) Pat White has this well oiled offense looking unstoppable. But, like Kentucky, the defense is suspect. South Florida, and their imitation Negro QB, will provide a nice test this Friday.
1) LSU (4-0) The Bayou Bengals look unstoppable at this point. There are plenty of landmines in the mighty SEC, but the talent on both sides of the ball in Baton Rouge is tough to match. C0-starter, Negro QB Ryan Perrilloux will prove to be the difference for this team before the season is over.
